  1. This post is just not very well thought out. I don't particularly care for Mackey's music, but a lot of people do... The fact that you can't find value in his music doesn't make him a bad composer. For you to make a statement claiming he is a terrible composer because you can't find value in his music makes it appear that you have quite an enlarged self-image. Next time, perhaps you should just say "I don't care for his music". As far as the original question, I think a few corps will probably jump on the piece and do fine arrangements. His music sees to tansfer well to the field.
  2. 2003 Phantom- Canon Recap. 1993 Star- Entire Closer 1987 Cadets- Disolving company front 1996 Devs- Rushing the sideline at the end of the show 1996 Phantom- Shost 5 closing 1991 Star- Cross closer drill 1987 SCV- Russian Christmas (espcially on the video with the close-up of that baritone doing the super hard flank! BAD A.SS) 1988 Devs- Walk of Soprano ensemble thing 1987 Devs- Harlem Soprano Solo (Meehan Baby!!!)
  3. Wow!!! Fight... Really?! I hope you're kidding. It's drum corps, not UFC.
  4. It is impossible to judge who has the most demanding show by simply watching it... especially in the theater. How can one person truly appreciate the marching demands placed on every member of the corps? Or music for that matter. Did you listen to every horn part, noting articulations and what key they were playing in while watching the drums stickings and guard work at the same time? It's like you would almost need a group, or PANEL of people to judge that.... oh wait....
  5. How can anyone be qualified enough to make an absolute statement like this?
  6. *Sarcasm Off* Let it go people!!!!!!! I, for one, am tired of hearing people gripe because they think BD doesn't have a demanding program. They were moving all over the place, with great technique, and inovative design to boot. They actually created visual effect WITHOUT having to rely on positive space forms!!!!! (i.e. block formations) Some other groups were rehashing both musical and visual effects we've ALL seen MANY times over. There were plenty of groups that parked and barked a TON. Or others that relied on a drum feature ever 30 seconds so the brass wouldn't have to play. My girlfriend (who had NEVER been to a drum corps show before) mentioned during another corps performance: "Why do they even have brass instruments out there if they set them on the ground half the time?!" Every corps will have their own group of fans and foes. Just because it's not YOUR cup of tea does NOT mean it's easy or boring. The judges on each panel most likely have more expirience in terms of top notch show design and performance than everyone here PUT together.
