I know there were two -- maybe three -- of those shows at the Chicago Opera House ... a carload of us drove over from Iowa each year (a couple of us marched in RA in those days, a couple of us others in the 2002-04 alumni/reunion/tribute corps) ... one year Chicago Vanguard played the entire William Tell Overture; they even had a cannon backstage -- when it went off, tons of dust fluttered to the stage ... those were terrific shows ...

Hey ... thanx for the Iowa shout ... neat little hotbed of activity there from about early '60s to mid-'70s ... and don't forget CR Cadets/Grenadiers, Monahan Marksmen from Sioux City, Decorah Kilties, Fort Madison Cavaliers, Waterloo Royals, the wonderfully named Dukes of Dubuque and a bunch more I'm not thinking of ... and thanx for getting Lanciers spelled right! Oh yeah, and Fort Dodge Post 130 won Legion Nationals in 1926, though that engendered a good bit of controversy ... JTarbox FDL 1965-1971
