  2. See if you can answer these without cheating They will get progressively harder as they go along, so if the ones at the beginning seem easy, just wait.... If you want to know the answers to any of the questions, just send me a pm. (Although I'm sure they will all be answered within at least 12 hours of this post, knowing the DCP Community ) Have fun! 1) What corps is best known for performing the music of "Phantom of the Opera" two years in a row? 2) What current Div. 1 corps started out as "Boy Scout Troop 111?" 3) This corps is almost always greeted by the audience at a show with what sounds like booing, but has become more commonly referred to as "Blooing." 4) Which corps' tradition is to eat Mandarin Oranges and fried rice the morning of DCI Quarterfinals? 5) In what year was the first official first place tie in DCI Finals recorded, and what were the 2 corps that tied? 6) What was the first corps ever to get first place at DCI Finals? 7) This corps always eats Roast Beef on Finals Day, with the exception of 1985 when the Roasts were burned. 8) What corps' uniforms are styled after those found at Westpoint Military Academy? 9) This corps made DCI History by being the first ever corps to qualify for DCI finals in its first year of existence. Name the corps, and the year this happened. 10) What is the unofficial name of the Bass Drum Cadence played by The Cavaliers when they exit a field after a performance? 11) In 1989, Kevin Smith was named and has remained the only corps director of which corps? 12) What corps is generally associated with the figure of Buddha? 13) After using spray paint to line their fields for rehearsal, this corps uses the marble found inside the spray can and makes a necklace out of it once the can is empty. (Extra Super Bonus Brownie Points if you know what the necklaces are called.) 14) This day every year has been declared The World Day of Drum Corps. 15) This corps was originally founded in 1963 as "The Junior Dukes." 16) This corps' cooking trailer is named after the brand of appliances that it was originally furnished with. (Again, Extra Super Bonus Brownie Points if you know the name of the trailer itself.) 17) This corps has a tradition started by current Santa Clara Vanguard visual caption head Sylvester "Sly" Sybilski involving shoelaces, pennies, and nickels. 18) Which corps was the first to get a "Three-peat" in DCI History? 19) In 2007, the Top 5 Corps all have one a DCI World Championship. Name the three corps who also have a DCI Championship, but cannot be found in the 2007 Top 5. 20) The drum line of this corps has the tradition of playing the song "#41" by The Dave Matthews Band on the tour bus before every show. 21) This corps' members have the long lasting tradition of wearing "Nozos" around their necks. The "Nozo" is believed to be a good luck charm for the corps, and is a recognizable symbol for which the corps "operates" by.
  3. Of course thats what every corps does. Thats what any normal human does. This is different for the Cavaliers however because, they take something that nobody would expect them to do well with, or something that isn't "Typical", and they make it their own, and in turn, they make it Typical Cavaliers.
  4. I have to disagree with you. The Cavaliers are know for being able to take almost anything, and do something awesome and great with it. I think thats what they strive for, so in that sense, those shows are the definition of typical Cavaliers.
  5. I was just wondering when the actuall voting usually starts, because last year was the first year I knew about the CC so I didnt get to vote and I've been wondering about when that starts for this year. Also, which shows do you think are gonna make it this year? I predict a couple+ 2007 shows, '89 Vanguard always seems to make it, maybe 96 phantom, '00 Cadets...
  6. from what i know the SCV uniform this year is simiallar to last years uniform with some changes, still gonna be traditional vanguard though
  7. you should post this up in the DCP Sponsor Board on the main page of the forums too
  8. its rumoed that both Vanguard and The Vanguard Cadets are both making uniform changes im pretty sure i know what the VC Uniform is gonna be, but am not going to say in this forum, (if you want to know send me a message) I REALLY really liked the look of The Colt's uniforms last year. Those plumes where awesome, I hope they keep them for this year.
  9. So, here is where we stand so far... 1980(6) 1984 1985 1988(3) 1991 1992(2) 1993 1995 1999(3) 2000(3) 2003(4) 2004 2006 2007(3) *Goes to watch some 1980*
  10. Mine persoanlly is 2007, there isn't a show I don't love to watch. I can't think of another year where I can stand watching 1st through 21st without not liking a show. I'd love to hear inputs on favorite years and why those are your favorite years.
  11. Well if you go back and watch these shows early in the season, you can see some MAJOR differences between the shows. Crown's shows at finals was much more similar to their performance at Annapolis, where when you look at the Cadets in Annapolis, their finals show could have been a completley different show. I think its all about what the judges like, because thats what judging is, the opinion of 9 people wearing green shirts, and the fact they like one corps earlier in the season shouldn't have anything to do with what happens on finals night, because one change in the show can do so much for GE, Music, Vis., or whatever depending on the change... Just my two cents.
  12. Great BrassLine play with 120db without being mic-ed. Now I know I love that awesome wall of sound that rips the skin off my face as much as the guy next to me, but to have that amplified???? I think It might be overkill. And for the parts when a coprs is playing softly or backfeild, when done right, I get even bigger goosebumps than when the hornline is just blasting. i.e. Crown 2007, SCV 1989. If you amplify that, I think it takes away from the reality of what the corps is really doing.
