I'm a new contributor to this forum. I joined because a freind of mine who marched in Guardsman with me told me to take a look.
I was with the Ambassadors and then the Royal Marquis when Tom was involved with both. I saw how dedicated he was as director of the Marquis. He would do it all from driving buses and trucks to cooking breakfast. I remember many was the time he would argue with instructors about the corps sleeping in the morning to catch up on sleep and making sure we had food for every meal even if he had to go shopping himslef.
He stepped up to the plate when the Malden - Arlington merger split to give a financial boost to the Guardsmen who missed their tour after winning the World Open the year before because that corps ran out of money. I doubt the Guardsmen would have made it out at all otherwise. I know they didn't make the next year when the Guardsmen people decided to go on their own, but the Dips went on to be a great corps as did East Coast.
So let's keep it straight. East Coast went inactive beacuse the money ran short when the bingos dried up. Let's hope they figure out the finances so the corps can come out again.
