It's fun reading all the talk on the forum and I am one from the fab 70's. We were pretty young but I must say that in the middle 70's and if you were from upstate NY, you knew who Donny Allen was. Him and all the boys from PHOENIX were like Gods to us who came from humble beginnings. I can remember when the summer season started in 1975, our rifle line wasn't even written into the show and we had to march in the far corner of the field during a few competitions. We never ever won a show, never even came close, but I must say that those summers we had great times! How many city kids do you know ended up going to Philly, Chicago, Denver and all over the Northeast on a dime? We were lucky and made a number of great friends from all over. I would have loved to have been competitive, (actually was when marching with Gauchos) but I surely wouldn't trade it for anything at all.
