Just now posted on DCI's FB page:

Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps regrets to announce that they will not take part in tonight's scheduled performance at the Drums Across the Mohawk DCI Tour event in Rome, New York. The corps has several members recovering from a viral infection.

The Troopers’ absence will push the first two corps’ performance times back 17 minutes, with Music City stepping off at 7:27 p.m. ET and Jersey Surf at 7:44 p.m. ET.

On the road to recovery, the corps will be traveling toward Allentown, Pennsylvania for the DCI Eastern Classic, Friday, August 2.

I pray that this is not of a contagious nature...that is to start to affect "other" corps as well...about 10 days out from finals...anyway hope all Trooper members feel better...

If one is talking "Italian restaurants" as they are on some other threads here today, there a few outstanding Mom and Pop places down a few blocks from the stadium where the locals go for pre-show dinner, leave the car in the lot, and walk off the pasta back to the show site. Ask the locals as in "what's your favorite local Italian and how far is it from here?" Great stuff.

I remember when this field was actually rung by tall pine trees but neither Cadets, Star, or Cavies appeared here the seasons they played Pines of Rome.

Remembering Kelly Wolner who grew up here until Grif AFB was closed.

Did not realize my post would reach far and wide...LOL

The Wife says she LOVES the Rome NY show. She's been there several times while volunteering and they are always very nice.

    Go Music City!

    Go Pacific Crest!

    Go Spirit of Atlanta!

I have not been to this show in years..it was always just a little bit too far from me for mid-week(now way too far geographically)....but I seem to recall really liking the crowd there and it was a nice venue as well for being in the pocket for getting your face blown off...one thing I always loved about drum corps...

go to a major concert thats to be held outside...what do the tickets say? Rain or shine, because often times they can't be rescheduled due to stadium or the acts schedule. Even baseball rainouts don't always get made up. Until someone builds a dome in the region this is going to be what its going to be.

BAC used to have a show at Southern Connecticut State University back when Tom Spataro (sp?) was still director.  I remember it being rained out due to T-storms.  We waited a real long time before it was actually called.  Well that was the last year for that show...I think they tried open class the next season, but it was poorly attended.

Rain outs are obviously a disaster for the Host...I imagine Cadets(YEA) lost a lot due to the mid-show cancellation...It's not like they are rolling around in money right now.  I feel bad for THEM as well.

That's two unbelievable debachles I've witnessed in Drum Corps shows,  last one was the "Moonlight Classic" at Sacramento State in 2012.  At intermission, there was an extended delay, the the announcer finally came on the PA and kindly asked everyone to leave the stadium, for safety reasons.  They couldn't get the stadium lights turned on, the organizers didn't get the key to the room where the switches were.  So each of SCVC, BDB, Phantom, BD and SVC all had to settle for a standstill in the parking lot by their respective buses. No scoring for anyone at the event.  That was the last of Sac State as the venue for The Classic.  All those ticketholders screwed.

I remember that!  BAC was the last corps to perform in the DARK.  It was the year they ventured out to Cali.

I hope I am remembering the correct show...
