  1. oh, and should mention one more thing: GO VK! do i recall correctly that i've seen your posts on this forum, and that you have kids who march VK? wasn't the season a blast? although my son marched just this one year with VK (he aged out in Bloomington), and they missed finals, i feel as if he and i and our family were caught up in something really special. i will follow the corps closely, and support them, and i expect to see great things. dancing zombies, sharks saving the day, precision folding chairs, and a very sharp needle popping the balloons of stuffed-shirt convention....that's entertainment!
  2. Days Inn, just off I-65. Yeah, very easy access to Indy. Nothin' fancy, but nothin' missing. A decent free breakfast, ethernet in the room, all the cable channels i could stand. they said they had a pool (and i saw a fitness room), but i was just there to sleep and wash up.
  3. and for having underage fans, too, i guess. this sure isn't the "family friendly" section today! anyway, a shoutout for Columbus -- a nice little town with all the necessary amenities for a short trip. the drive into Bloomington on 46 was beautiful. as for the event site itself, very adequate: the parking was sensibly priced and accessible, there were plenty of places to eat well (if you looked), i had a very good line of sight from my seat, and the performances were inspired. i was able to buy all the junk i could carry. my favorite experience: wandering through the woods east of the stadium, and stumbling upon corps after corps playing for small groups of fans. i get goosebumps thinking about it. i'm sure sorry to hear about all the problems some folks had. i think it was one of the most wonderful experiences of my 55 years sucking air.
  4. You have that right. They are within reach. Anything's possible. Overachieving can become a habit.
  5. Thanks...love to see these kids.
  6. Congrats. I'm glad everything precious survived the storm. Hey, it looks to me like you need to shift your numbers down (by adding one more open score line).
  7. Second year, but no less awesome an accomplishment.
  8. DCI just posted legends at 81.575. VK moves ahead of them -- first break from seeding order.
  9. You da man! And Lance, now you da man! Thanks!
  10. Sweeeet! Go VK! And go Beatrix! (I'm sure the adrenaline will keep you fans tuned in)
  11. We can be even more grateful for this forum now...DCI is having trouble formatting the score page (that's happened a lot this season) and getting the scores up. I'll stick here -- nicer folks!
  12. Not sure, but I've read here and elsewhere that Yamato is considered a US corps, compliant with DCI rules and chartered as a California nonprofit.
  13. hey, by the way: thanks a million to you and to your source.
