  1. Because of the way they just lay around flapping or the intense odor they give off? Maybe the look of confusion in their eyes? "What the hell happened? One minute I'm eating a worm, the next, I'm being grilled in butter over an open fire!"
  2. Being ignored is the story of my life, be funny isn't.
  3. You know what they say, "you can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish!" My guess is Nemo. If this person is from Canada, do we have to put EH? at thge end of all our guesses? EH?
  4. The looks of this guy, I hope it was a joke, if not, we can get Cossetti to hit him in the ankles.
  5. The firetruck was a 1937 "B" Model Mack with a 8 speed transmission. It had 34" Firestone Tires mounted on 10 spoke wooden wheels. It carried 125 gallons of water, 6 firemen, and 200' of hose. The driver's name was Wally Inglefelter and passed away on Feb. 9th, 1981 at the age of 87 at the Good Smaritan Hospital in the southeast section of Chicago, on 117th St. He was buried at Our Lady of Scred Hearts cemetary in Elk Grove Village, IL., just west of Chicago near the 294 Tollway. It's amazing what you discover on GOOGLE !!!
  6. Does this mean he marched in the US Army Kiltie Corps? As a former jarhead, don't all US Army men wear skirts? Cpl. Klinger sure did.
  7. He did mention that whoever this person is; "To his credit he IS a decent musician with pretty good improvisational skills." Person must have some redeeming qualities.
  8. The travel VISA is the easy part, getting through all the summer PENNDOT roadwork is the real pain in the backside. If you are planning a Labor Day trip to Rochester via PA, better leave a week early, just saying. You know the PA Motto, 2 seaons, winter & construction.
  9. A subject I am just as involved with as drum corps, baseball cards. !989 Fleer card of Billy Ripken, kid brother of Cal Jr., is holding a bat and on the knob it very clearly says "f**k face". When it 1st came out, Fleer tried to pull all their cards but many got out. It was at the time going for $200.00. Now you can get one for around $10 - $20. Back in the 50's, a player actually had the batboy pose as him. I had a T-Shirt from my teen years that said, "Forty F****in' Niners", everytime I wore it, I would end up seeing someone from church.
  10. Appleknockers fron Geneva NY & Alberta Girls from Edmonton AB. They would be called the Alberta Girls Knockers!
  11. Don't sweat it, I did the same thing. Got my backside chewed but now everything is OK.
  12. Does that mean Picksburgers are easteners'? Some of us in the "Burgh consider anything east of Harrisburgh NJ!
  13. 1. Hair Club for Men HOF? 2. We won't hold that against him 3. Again, we won't hold that against him
  14. Some folks in Steel City had a theory that he would find the cheapest and nastiest beer so nobody would drink his beer. Can we also mention the nice comments Jim Cossetti got on another thread in historical Jr. Corps. Here's a link: http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...20&start=20 It's post #28
  15. Is that why they put it in such a dark glass bottle? I recall the bottle being a dark brown.
  16. By the way, the cheapest cost wise beer my father-in-law ever bought was Red, White, & Blue Beer. Cheaper than the Utica Beer , but a little better in the taste department.
  17. My father-in-law, Steel City & PADCHOF member Dave Armstrong is known for finding the cheapest beer. He once brought a case of Utica Gold on the bus in honor of Rick Morey , who is from the area of Utica. Hands down, the worst beer I ever tasted.
  18. I see a wide range of ages posting to this thread. Hopefully, some of the younger ones will take the time and try to find video or at least sound to some of the shows the old timers are mentioning. I know I am.
  19. I had to go with the heart and not the brain on this one, Catholic Daughters of America!
  20. Now, now LancerLegend, no need to stir the pot, besides, wasn't '78 Muchachos last year? Funny as hell though! I played in the USMC D&B with the center tenor from 1976 Blue Devils, great guy. Now, as far as my choice, there's no way I could narrow it down to one show, no way ever. But still a great question. If you ask for one song, hands down, Blue Devils, "When a Man Loves a Women" closer. OK, how about different songs from different shows. Kick-off, Madison Scouts "Slaughter" Concert, Bridgemen, "Spanish Fantasy/Dream" whatever it was from '78 I already named my closer. Only problem, where's the SCV song? Dang, this is tough!
  21. I recall that anyone who may be a bit over the legal age would always be clean shaven. Other corps who would challenge somebody's age usaully picked out the bearded ones.
  22. I don't think he was advocating the overage thing, just making a comment that a lot of corps did it back then, that's a fact. I have heard many folk from that era say their corps had a few overage.
  23. Thanks to Google, I change my guess to Darcy Davis.
