  1. Hey everyone. First post and a little nervous about asking. I've always admired Drum Corps since I first picked up my tuba back in the 6th grade. We had a lazy class day and my director put on a DCI Video (I forgot what season) and I immediately thought "I wanna be that good." Didn't get to try out for Cavies like I wanted, but that doesn't mean I'm still not practicing for when I do get to audition. But anyway, I'll cut the crap and get to the point. Ever since I met my former director/current boss (Mark Connell, Spirit of Atlanta '70s/'80s Drum Major), I have looked into to the available videos of his performances. I asked him why they were so much more powerful sounding than Drum Corps are today, and he explained the whole thing about G Bugles. Since then, I've been enamored with finding a G Contrabass Bugle. I'm not too picky on condition. As long as it has 3 valves, is keyed in G, is playable (even with duct tape patches covering holes ), and is relatively cheap (because I'm on a sorta tight budget at the moment), it will be ok. When I get nervous, I talk a lot, as you see. So, um, if anyone has an old 3-valve G Contrabass Bugle that looks like its been to heck and back and wouldn't mind having it taken off your hands, please shoot me a PM. Thanks, Chris
