  1. you can check DCI groups gross income via their tax forms on the internet. Blue Devils gross about $4.5 million a year I think, Blue Stars is around $900k, etc, etc. Arcadia HS is around $600k. This is all open to the public.
  2. Yes, at first when I heard this I thought no way. Maybe it is somewhat possible if he has a small business with some shadow writers, and they gross that amount, but still the number is high.
  3. Why do some of you have to be so immature and rudely mean?Seems a bit bitter. It was just ONE number, I even said I questioned it, then looked at the person's website, and saw that he works for other groups outside of the marching activity, and maybe earns more from other groups that are not in the marching arts.
  4. Why don't you be nice and drop your ego or something. If you don't agree then respectfully say so. No need to vocalize such a negative tone.
  5. This is why sometimes it is almost better, financially, to work for a high school. I've expeirenced it personally myself.
  6. Yes, this is VERY true. Looking at Arcadia's budget, for example, is higher than some Open Class DCI groups.
  7. Yes, well, California is a very weird state in my opinion when it comes to the marching arts. I've lived here all my life and from my experience, not quoting others, you basically have to charge illegal fees to thrive at a high level as a program. GENERALLY speaking...not all the times.
  8. I heard the source from someone who worked with the guy. I didn't believe it myself. All I said is that the school paid the guy around $12k, and was informed he made $900k. IF that is true of his overall salary, maybe just a portion of that is from the marching activity, since on his website it states he works for other theatrical companies that are non marching groups. I have doubts about it, too. However, I did learn that the work he did for this school was probably done by a shadow worker.
  9. I never said other schools don't. I just said I know of schools that gross this amount. The kids pay "fees" which are illegal in California.
  10. There are schools like Chino Hills, Arcadia, and Ayala in California that raise between $500,000-650,000 a year for their programs. You can check public documents that are online to see this or ask people that work in these groups.
  11. well jeeze, Michael Gaines people! I guess if you work for other theatrical productions outside of the marching activity, it could be possible.
  12. There are a couple of schools in Southern California that I know of that have that budget.
  13. Awesome thanks for the info. I'm coming from California so this is a big move for me!
