  4. The Honda Battle of the Bands isn't ran nor controlled by HBCU schools. Honda wanted to promote collegiate band competitions and frankly HBCU bands are very competitive and compete all the time, they wanted a piece of that audience. I went to an HBCU and THEY DO promote diversity or to be blunt about it THEY WANT MORE WHITE PEOPLE, some of them actually spell it out on admissions applications pleading for more white students and they band programs do it as well with their scholarships. Just wanted to point out some things in your statement because it appears that you believe that the Honda Battle of the Bands is an umbrella organizattion like DCI and therefore comparable, it isn't. I run my own drum corps and as a black director I cannot tell you why there are not many minorities involved in this activity. My corps is 99.9% white and male and I did heavy recruiting to diversify the membership, the kids I have are the kids I have.
  5. Yes , and 135 members makes "economic" sense but not 150. The corps that were leasing 55 passenger buses just as easily could of leased 47 or even 40 passenger buses that are cheaper than the 55. Being that this argument ( Our 55 pax buses have to many empty seats) had traction tells me that alot of people at that time and currently do not understand that 55-56 passenger buses are not the only nor the majority of buses available for purchase/lease/charter.
  6. I run a descent size bus company and MODERN buses come with 40-47-55-56 passenger seating configurations, many companies use the 47 or 56 passenger configuration. Just wanted to put that out there for people who think that modern buses only seat 50-56 people, they do not, there are just as many 47 passenger buses as there are 55-56. If cost is an issue then don't book a 56 passenger bus. 135 members could easily fill 3 47 passenger buses with 6 seats to spare, just 6 seats so there is no overwhelming cost.

  23. Im very interested in the general opinion on purchasing a new line for a new corps. Personally I'm biased toward G horns but question, Is there a bias against bugles in the judging community right now, whether Open or World Class? Would brass scores automatically handicap a group due to the perceived superior quality of the Bb horns, regardless of which side you may come down on the ongoing debate?
  24. Looking to purchase 2 valve bugles. Send info on horn/s and prices to bejayb2001@yahoo.com Thanks!
