  1. Ugly presentation, but very interesting content. I cannot disagree with much of what I read. Something needs to be done to increase interest in drum and bugle corps and at least a few people had the balls to step up and make a recommendation. I see a lot of people complaining about what the G7 is proposing, but I am not seeing any alternatives. I guess most prefer the status quo which will result in drum corps' continued slide into obscurity.

I would have to agree

  2. OK....Maybe someone can explain.. Maybe I just didn't get it. I just read the post and rule changes. Seems like rules for floors arent different other than line.( World Class ) So with another thread would SCV or what Pride did legal or not? Maybe Im not getting it...lol....someone help...lol  i have to re read the rest....hehehe

  3. With all of the G-7 talk from the recent DCI meetings the rule proposals that were discussed this past weekend by WGI have gone un-noticed.

Many interesting proposals including a removal of all rules for the world classes and a removal of the limit to the number of members for an ensemble.

What are peoples thoughts on the WGI rule proposals?

    Are they posted yet?

  4. And Im rude... are you kidding me...? Of all the thousands of posters here that ##### and moan and groan....... you point ME OUT !!!!!!!

Geez... with this kind of luck.. Im running to go get a lottery ticket..!!!!!!! Calling things crap... no, just bad ideas (imho)..oh .. and by

the way............. who are these "many" you sugggest that have viewed me and are just as disgruntled as you ???

Devaluing others opinions? Like what you are doing to me...?? No- I state from years of being involved in drum and bugle corps, so pardon me

if I know a little something here... Im not into bragging.. I just want to clarify this state with you.....

So let me ask you.... what makes you SO SUPERIOR to anyone on here with differences then YOU ???

We all have opinions.. you, obviously, have taken it upon yourself to find mine just completely out of this world...

again...another reason for a lottery ticket.. since you seem to know alot here.

Please, tell us all, just why you are superior, whether you mean to or not, you come across that way (imho)..

    maybe other.. not sure.....

SUPERIOR? Now who said that? Some discussions are worth it some are not worth the time...sorry this is not worth the time at all !!!!!!!

Enjoy your summer and whatever you chose to see. And I truly do mean enjoy

  5. Guardy... you've been riding me all night about this subject... I have a right to state how I feel... excuse ME if I dont

agree with you.. no skin off my teeth... I just feel very very strong about this G7 -stuff- that I, along with you, have the

right to address those that care to read. And like I stated, I will politely clap for said corps....

If you have a problem with my words I just stated, then, hey.. go watch the 7 and have a great time !

Again.. this is a PUBLIC forum... sorry Im on your hit list.. but what you state and what you say to my

face would more then likely be 2 different variations of your feelings... so, I'll just take it at that !

MAny of us have seen how rude your words have been to many on here.......are you kidding? YES you are certainly entitled to sit on ur hands, go get a coke , dont go at all. and do whatever you like. BUT YOU are the onre calling things crap,,, people bums, devaluing anothers opinion. If you realy dont see that then Im sorry,

And YES I will support the shows I want to see and I will give ALL corps the respect they deserve to have , If I like the show . politics or not.

  6. In this case, with the corps picture that you have spewed out for all of us to ......um.. see....

I will go and get up with most of the croud, either get a refreshment or attend to a duty in the bathroom..

(huum.... C2000--bathroom)... seems to fit... nothing but #### anyway !!!

So yeah.. Im going.. to watch the corps I want to... and to find something to do while those other

corps... (if they dare lower themselves to something called DCI) corps perform.

    The end.

WOW C- 2000 didnt seem to deserve that. Im sure you certainly have a passion for what YOU think the entire activty should be and very much entitled to your opinion and so are the many others who maybe DONT post on DCP ( Which Im very sure is the majority ) but your wording of crap , bums

( another post ) spewed out ,so on and so on seems quite extreme. Im not challenging you by no means, but I don't think narrow mindedness, self indlugent bitterness, as well as rudeness is not a part of the legacy generation.

To Cadet 2000 we all have opinions, keep on posting

  7. Well.. I and MANY will sit and politely clap for their efforts, dispite what that corps' members directors feel or believe on this

matter... BUT their is POWER IN NUMBERS !! Only thru the summer, will we find out just how this whole "mess" for the majority

of the fans that have kept this organization known as DCI going thru the year. Again... this is going to be a very intersting if not

defining summer for what we currently call Drum Corps International.. Thinking maybe in the fall, the word Marching Band will

    somehow take place.

Better yet why give the money at all. Dont go! Wouldnt that make even a bigger statement? Just asking.

  8. The issues with the VFW and Legion had already led DCA to form in 1964-1965. The Juniors had a model with which to work from, and it was very necessary for a multitude of reasons. The Net might have made it easier to have gotten it done, but would not have changed the inevitable when DCI was formed. If you ever have the chance to meet someone like Don Warren, ask him about it. I'm sure he'd gladly tell you from a first-hand perspective. I hope Mike Boo will also chime in- he's more of a historian tyoe than even I am.

Corps needed to shape their own destinity and not allow the Legion or VFW to dictate it anymore at that point in time.

As for corps going defunct-- (check your spelling, young Jedi)-- DCI had an effect on it, yes. THere was a gravitation even then towards more successful corps taking place.

The problem is, if things get too much smaller, the whole thing might turn into a black hole and implode. :worthy:

Thanks for the spelling lesson....So much to learn here on DCP

As you said the formation of DCI then was necessary for many reasons. Maybe the same now ! People just happen to not agree as I KNOW for sure didnt back then either. Oh well , it won't be long until we all find out. Good Luck to all the corps. Can't wait !

  9. :blink: :blink: :w00t::blink::w00t:

What I find interesting: how many of these older fans complain about young people's sense of entitlement, yet obviously have a sense of entitlement about drum corps?

now that makes total sense..im not a youngin thats for sure and dont want ww , well at least a line of them but i think you are right. why do we feel like Drum Corps is all about what we did..2010 my friends.

  10. Geez.

You know, it's like people say on here all the time. DCP is a small community. I'm sure those corps will be fine as far as donations are concerned. And just like in the news media, this story will be a hot topic for a week, maybe two. But when the season comes around, everyone will forget all about this story and start talking about how much they LOVE some of the "G7's" shows and talking about what shows they're going to next.

    agree totally

  11. Guardling- Please, do tell, which of these great drum corps leaders that I listed, would jump for joy at the prospect of woodwinds in a drum corps.

I too, knew these people, and their passion for drum corps. If they were all fired up about woodwinds, wouldn't they have devoted their energies to marching bands?

No, I didn't think so.

Maybe none..maybe all who knows they arent with us so we cant assume anything thats all im saying. I know my Dads godfather would have weighed it all out as I would think all these greats would have... Maybe coming up with everything you are saying....maybe not

  12. Fastone- I never thought I'd see flutes in drum corps either! And like you, I wouldn't boo either.

But you'd have to admit, Jim Costello, Hy Dreitzer, Truman Crawford, and Jim Jones, oh, and Gail Royer....all all turning in their graves, with tears in their eyes.

OK i promise to stay civil and clam. I totally get where you are coming from and agree to a point ,But PLEASE don;t speak for some of these people and what they may have done if they were here in 2010. Thats plain not right. These people were visionaries and knew how to please all concerned. They also knew how to take the next step for survival. Im not saying they would have bought the WW issue at all. but neither should you assume of the opposite.

i Knew all these men but most of all 1 of them was my dads godfather so I do know a bit.

thank you. Hope i didn't come off rude. just hit a nerve.
