I don't deny any of this! But I marched at the very end of his time directing the Cadets so I really don't know much about him except what came out from the news a few years ago.

They're very busy i'm sure with their own Duties.
If GH had any class he would just stay away, there are consequences to terrible actions, and this should be one of many!
Remember who were talking about..We can also see this practially daily by just turning on TV or some social media outlets..Any of those traits sound familiar? AND i don't just mean the person of this topic here

We all know that Felliniesque is currently the highest-scoring show in history, but what would it take for a corps to earn a clean 100/100? As this is a hypothetical discussion, assume the judges have zero bias toward/against any singular corps. And if it was possible, who do you think would be capable of a perfect score? Interested to see where this discussion goes 🧐
it would take corps 2 , 3, 4 and maybe 5 all worth 99.5 and above.....and there's no such thing as perfect, even when a subcaption scores a so called perfect score..Its driven by the talent below them. And there's lots of talent in those top corps even 5-12

Marched drum corps 64-72 = 9 years
Taught drum corps 76 and 77 = 2 years
Judged drum corps 77-80 plus two DCA shows in 90 = 5 years
Marched HS band 68-70 = 3 years
Marched college MB 73 = 1 year
Taught HS bands at every level from drum tech through band director 71-2017 = 47 years
Judged HS band shows 77-2005 = 29 years

I really hope this show wins. I think it would be so exciting for the activity to have a new champion and it would be fun if someone finally caught BD down the stretch. Whether Boston wins or places 2nd or 3rd (I personally don’t think they’ll be below 2nd) this will be a tremendously successful year for them and a great building block for next year, and future years. I think design held them back in 2019, but now they really have the design and the talent in the hornline and drumline is rising to the levels of the talent in the guard. This is really something magical.
could it be sounding like 2008?....either way it's still a win for BAC..Winning isn't always the number but the goals they set and their journey. Seems like winning to me.

Except financially. Even when successful they were sacrificing the future to pay for the present. To be fair, they definitely haven't been the only ones.
Mike
They made promises that were never kept, staff, members bus companies etc etc. Bad management and youre right they havent been the only ones

Those things sounded like cap guns. I used to play with them as a kid. I'm second thought, I guess playing with those these days would be a bad idea too...
I was at a 4th of july celebration and just fireworks at an unexpected time sent a huge crowd running. was crazy

I think Tony DiCarlo handles that responsibility now. If we go back to that, then we need the gun fire with blanks for the starting & stopping of judging. 😁
HMMM gun shots in a public arena? Probably not a good idea in todays world🤫

I apologize for making an example of you, GUARDLING.
I don't give a hoot what happens in his or any other narcissist's mind... or if he reads this. He's been relatively dis-empowered in the activity, for now, and those of us that are survivors of any abuse in the activity might get a little twitchy when things get brought up. We get twitchy not only because it's triggering, but because we know that if we keep silent it will only fester inside of us. And I don't mean metaphorically fester, I mean literally. I've been recovering from my time with drum corps for 20 years. It's affected every moment of my life since then. So... minimally, you can't expect us to stay silent.
No apology necessary, I do understand how horrific a person like this surfacing again and how it would stir up rightful anger.

The first response when addressing a survivor should probably be I'm sorry you went through that. Just in case you encounter one of us again the future. Skipping past our disclosure contributes to our silencing.
That said, no one here has the individual power to make change. A letter or even a few letters won't cut it.
That's why people are in dialogue (hopefully as respectfully as possible), and suggesting collective action. Neither of those are possible if we don't address it at all.
If you said you are a survivor and I missed it then Yes I am sorry ANYONE had to go through any of it at the hands of a monster. I know a few here that have been through this horrific situation. With that said, I believe feeding a person like this is what they want and giving them what they want only makes them relevant in their own twisterd mind.
I do think you are right about what could be done or IF anything here or a letter would do anything.

I’m not going to talk about it anymore either. It just makes me feel bad.
But I want to emphasize that if you believe that they can’t worm their way back into the activity, I think you’re wrong. I’ve seen it too many times.
You are 100% right

As a survivor of abuse at other people's hands at another corps, I respectfully disagree. I agree with your premise, but not your conclusion.
Do you think they care whats being said? Their past would suggest no. IMO if there are those who feel They should be banned then write to DCI, write the person, They are so self centered I wouldnt be surprised if they answered what their intentions are. I just hate to feed someone who thrives on it, especially now that they are free to slither about.

because he is whatever he is doesn't mean this is an issue that should be ignored. that's what you're implying should be done, and it's categorically wrong. you choose to do what you want, but implying that concerned people voicing those concerns should stop for any reason is revolting, at least to me.
please, don't let dci ignore this to make a few people who don't know how to think things through "comfortable". yuck.
People like this love the attention, feeding him doesnt do anyone any good...except in his own mind. It's always been like this with him, even before this all came out.

I can’t believe that GH would even think it is a good idea to attend a show. Narcissistic people like GH feel the need to be in the limelight.
The very fact anyone or any organization would provide him with a VIP pass is both appalling and disgusting.
Amazing how people have such short memories. What about those whose life will never be the same because of this monster? Where is their VIP pass?
DCI has dirty hands allowing this nonsense to happen!
This ( highlighted ) is so true and it's exactly what they want. Good talk or bad it doesn;t matter. Talking about them feeds the monster.

That's why I stated to please keep the comments civil. The thread from 2019 made it & is still open which provided trial updates, etc. No one on DCP has to read this or comment. I'm simply curious as to his intentions & DCI's actions. Is this the first step to returning to a role in the DCI activity? I'm simply asking... But he's not growing younger.

Sadly it goes with the territory. When in a position of success one has to have a thick skin.

A dropped piece of equipment that travels 10 yards from your spot is more than skin-deep - in my opinion. It's like saying car crashes shouldn't be considered against a person's driving record.
good one....lol.......actually in the defence of that. With the height and speed of equipment and hitting turf, it literally can bounce several yards out of control

Honestly there’s been a lot of people harping on drops in the guard last night. I think that’s crap.when you do really hard skills, it won’t be perfect every night. Boston and Devils guards should be several tenths ahead of everyone else in content. it’s mind blowing that the judge even slotted the guards so close. It should be BAC and BD trading back and forth this season and everyone else is at least .3 behind in content if not more until others add in more difficulty. Time for judges to start recognizing the level of difficulty and stop rewarding much easier skills.
EDIT: I’m not putting down any corps, how hard they work or their talent!!Very few points to work with..its also the reason perfect scores are given out at championships. Never perfect just the highest score. If you look at a tenth as actually maybe a point, the perspective is different. Either way it's all due to numbers, or lack of them.

And to add on dude…. Working with band circuits. In the NE alone you have TOB, USBANDS ( which only promoted C2, Cavalcade, PIMBA, LMBA, the MD and NJ circuits, NY State and I can’t remember the circuits above NY… and I’m sure I’m missing someone somewhere. So much opportunity for outreach. BOA really isn’t much here as few bands are BOA sized.
One has to do that work and know it's what needs to be done to survive. as I said ....self inflicted wounds

Sadly this is more accurate daily. It has value if run properly
Any lost interest in ANY part of our activity isn't good and I think effects the whole BUT often they are self inflicted wounds or a lack of knowing what needs to be done to move............forward
