  1. Went to my one and only show of the 2010 season last night in rome ny. I was looking forward to seeing the scouts, vanguard, cavies. I was sadly disappointed. I came into drum corps in 1963. I have followed these corps, competed against these corps and a lot of others over the years and watched them all go through their glory years to create the traditions they live on today. But, without wasting a lot of your time and space here, WHAT WAS THAT? Breaking news: we’re witnessing the end of drum corps. It’s over. The activity has definitely moved to a new level. Its main purpose today is to serve as a summer touring camp for band. And to add insult to injury the rumor mill is prophesizing woodwinds are coming next. I’d pay $26 to see the bayonne bridgemen alone, but I wont pay a dime to see the likes of what I saw last night again.
  2. just my two cents, but i think the world class group and DCI ought to be looking over their shoulder. this danny boy productions project may be the demise of the world class group as we know it today. every existing corps would then be in the same pot. maybe there would be no more DCI. it wouldnt be the end of the world if that were to happen. i remember when drum corps existed long before dci was created. besides, today's economics can't support the activity the way it's currently set up. too expensive. you may see some corps leaving world class for the open class because of the cost. you may even see some corps leaving DCI altogether. reality eventually catches up ($$$) and you have to face the music.
