  1. Ditto on the THANK-YOU!! I can't wait to meet you! We are headed to the airport in the morning and off to Indianapolis. See you at Pendleton HS! Safe journey to you and HNC.
  2. YES, YES. YES............. Hop has it in his latest Blog entry: "Excellence is the result of doing more than others think is safe, dreaming more than others think is practical, and expecting more than others think is possible." -Author unknown 7 years ago we naively sent our 15 year old snare drum player to the East coast to audition for this drum corps call The Cadets. "Great Hands"; but they didn't want to take a 15 year old snare drummer on tour........but the life lessons began. He made the line the next year and has marched 5 of the last 6 years. We live in Oregon, he thought he might march this last year with a corps that was closer to home (it's kind of spendy to fly out to camp once a month!)........but he couldn't do it. The educational foundation that George teaches at HNC is a way of life and our son HAD to go back "home" and march with his corps for his age out year. These years our son has spent with The Cadets has changed the way I teach and coach as well. George is an incredible mentor and teacher and I will be forever grateful of our time with HNC!! Bravo George, bravo HNC!! You are class all the way.
  3. Incredible, Irving - Thank-you, thank-you! I woke up this morning to your earlier report and I got to finish my day with this wonderful recap!! I even got a phone call from our son!! We so wish we could have been there, but sooo looking forward to seeing them in person on Wed AM!! Blessing to you and all the volunteers for being there for our kids!! J Gross Center snare Mom
  4. Once again, Irving..........you made my morning! I know staff and volunteers are crazy busy with all the events and getting ready for "the last week!". If you get ANY info regarding approx. time they might be pulling into the Pendleton housing site on Wed of finals week........please post. This is the time on tour that the schedules on the web site don't get updated and we are flying in Tuesday night. thanks again for all you and all the volunteers are doing!! J Gross Center snare mom
  5. We on the west coast and sent our son to the HNC
  6. YOU are fabulous!! Thanks so much for the update. I have just taken to keeping a box of kleenex by the computer! Gotta LOVE the life lessons being taught. Hope to meet you in Indianapolis! J. Gross Center snare Mom
  7. THANKS so much for the updates........love hearing about the food and any other "homey" details! Much appreciated
  8. Yes, my husband checks his account regularly. It just took one "overdraw" and we decided it was best to keep enough there......for the same reason as you stated! Funny.........we all have SO much in common!! Best wishes to all the parents that don't get to see their kids this summer. This is year 7 for us, and it doesn't get any easier.
  9. Sounds pretty familiar! We text the "love you" and "give us a call when you can", which I hope he's not tired of! They haven't had enough down time to spend money and that's when we get the text or call!! "Mom or Dad"....need some more money in my account!! Love it! BIG count down.......see him in one week!
  10. Hello you WONDERFUL Volunteers touring with HNC, I know you are incredibly busy, but might you pop on DCP and give us some scoop on the daily stories of tour?? It was 106 degrees in Portland, OR yesterday and supposed to be 107 today...........so, stuck inside and would LOVE to read some more personal stories of tour! Thanks............maybe more info on the Bear siting a couple of days ago Thought with Laundry last night, my wonderful son might text or call..........but, NOT. Counting the days until my flight next Tuesday!! Love you all Thanks
  11. ALL of Indianapolis!! Coming in Tuesday night, so will be driving up to HNC housing on Wed! Can't wait!
  12. Thank-you, thank-you. I need my daily fix until Indianapolis when I can see my son in person; been a long, long summer.............. Your being with them is GREATLY appreciated!!
