  1. TOTALLY agree. Different animals. Since she's an "unknown" in the drum corps world it's just the best we have to go on right now...
  2. Really RARE and interesting find on Youtube Cadets 1990 program at a show in early July (Virginia Tech) https://youtu.be/MCeC0uEN5V4?t=48m4s Pretty good quality transfer from 8mm considering the era The whole show is recorded - including Star 1990's ever popular program, which edged the Cadets for 1st place that night: https://youtu.be/MCeC0uEN5V4?t=28m10s Really cool seeing both these programs early on tour before many changes put in for finals Magic, Crossmen & Spirit of Atlanta also at this show and on the video Enjoy!
  3. same corps in early August that year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iUYKLceEPs&nohtml5=False
  4. Kristi - the new Guard Caption Head - also teachers Mechanicsburg HS Indoor Guard - here's their WGI finals performance where they were a crowd favorite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aC67o0GOGIU
  5. Feel that way too. The drill drIves so much of the rest of visual, should give the whole thing a fresh feel
  6. Apparently Hopkins is meeting with the uniform company and it is still a work in progress
  7. a few seconds of the HS guard the staff just finished teaching https://igcdn-videos-h-14-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/t50.2886-16/12958237_1058380050872634_734255815_n.mp4
  8. I agree. And I also agree with the prior comment that the drill should be interesting to see develop. Guard is probably the most crucial though. They can adjust some drill if needed. 2015 proved a modern drum corps can't over come a struggle in the guard caption with today's audience and today's judging
  9. it's the same individual involved - they know EVERYTHING :)
  10. That's simply not the case 1. Visual staff - for DECADES - have switched poorly marching bands/corps into dark pants or darker uniforms to hide dirt. Scores have gone up. This is a pattern over decades. 2. Cadets 2015 were not the greatest marchers. They weren't at the beginning of the season, they weren't mid season and they weren't at the end. And the guard brought the visual element down further. From early on the corps quickly fell behind the STELLAR visual performance level of their 2014 corps. And then they changed the ending, twice - and they fell a little further behind the other corps. Then the scores started to fall behind, and frankly the membership saw the writing on the wall. There was no real push for a championship at the end. I also find it quite amusing that the individual coming here and (in a certain way trolling) posting about this "sudden exposure of dirt and all kinds of alignment issues" remains seemingly blind to those issues in his own corps of choice. But biased eyes and all... It's all a good lesson for me not to take certain people on this website very seriously... They go on and post things before the first show like "Cadets will never beat Crown" - and when Cadets do they vanish... They really don't apparently know much about the broader activity frankly. I shouldn't take it very seriously. There's an undercurrent among (some) Crown fans that they are the "superior" east coast organization. I've sat by many fans at shows, and interacted with several online, that seem to think this way. I find it interesting when you have one organization with decades of success and ten championships and one with 1 championship and a few good years. A little uppity if you ask me ;-) As ridiculous as it sounds - Crown will beat Cadets at times. Cadets will beat Crown at times. Stuff happens. I have a great deal of respect for the Crown organization - a wonderful addition to the activity as they've developed into a real contender. They've put some fantastic and memorable programs onto the field Anyway - it is what it is.
  11. All that's been proven here is you can't argue with stupid - there's great consensus in the visual universe that dark uniforms HIDE dirt Now back to the topic at hand - Cadets 2016 Big thing will be "who does the guard progress?" - in a related topic, Mechanicsburg HS Winter Guard placed 7th last night in Scholastic World Class with a score of 90.6, just narrowly losing to the wonderful James Logan and several other top programs. Haven't seen the program yet, hope to get to at some point, heard some great things Can't wait to see the guard start developing during Spring Training which is just 6 weeks away!!
  12. Your missing 1. my point & 2. the "on the field reality" 1. My point in the discussion was to switch the conversation back to the 2016 Cadets. Which is the topic at hand 2. The reality on the field had to do with a lot of things. You are taking the score and saying it is proof the Cadets were dirty. The Cadet GUARD was dirty - and it really hurt their overall scores. And please leave your demeaning "the borg" insults out of things. Really beneath the discussion of a youth activity. Crown had a great season - celebrate that!
  13. as we await a new guard caption head - a reflection back on April Gilligan in this 2009 Cadets all access https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-yCXS1yhZ4&nohtml5=False do we have our "next April" ?? That's one question the 2016 may answer for us...
  14. I'm hoping for a very modern but "tough" look to the program... not militaristic or masculine necessarily - just tough looking, bold, well-defined, powerful, strong edged design. Should fit the music we've heard really well along with that huge Crown brass sound and rapidly improving production book
  15. "I'm not dissing the cadets" and those goes on to "diss the cadets" I do find it very interesting that particular Crown fans are so interested in nit-picking the Cadets. I guess just 1 championship leaves a fan base in that position of going after one of the legendary DCI programs. And you can only clean what you actually HAVE in your program. Not much drill = not much cleaning to do. Wallace hits it on the head with "did anyone consider the difficulty of the 2015 show..." Anyway - suggest the Crown heads go troll in their own thread. What's more interesting to me is here you have an extremely mature program (in Cadets) with 10 championships under its belt and we are all looking forward to hearing more about the 2016 program due to their never-ending nature to push the boundaries and put different type programs on the field over the years. Cadets are many things - dull is not one of them. Scared is not one of them. Afraid to take risks is not one of them
  16. THIS. Final plans under consideration...
  17. Trust me. There's two ways to go with this show. A more Roman costume like approach - abandoning (adapting) the black cadet uniforms --- OR a stone motif version of a Cadet uniform, entirely in grey and white JMO
  18. really?? Yes because Cadets are notoriously dirty. As if.
  19. another option would be a stone and white version of the typical cadet uniform...
  20. looking forward to them - with the music released so far I'd think a modern vibe with a pretty clean visual look / probably needs a lighter color scheme to play off the music well
  21. I heard a very heavily altered version of the black. Sounds terrific for the program
  22. Cadets indoor (CWP) 1 handed snare feature (this past weekend) - WOW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqH6GwQre0Y
  23. oh gosh no! About as accurate as fandango viewer reviews posted a week before the movie debuts
  24. oh god yeah - probably all the same person or two. These website "reviews" of workplaces are TERRIBLE / total jokes I've fired people for things such as blatant sexual harassment and then they go on glassdoor and slam us, like 8 times for one dismissal that was entirely justified
