  1. Cadets aren't playing jingle bells and have a monster drum line - probably why folks are hyping them this early

Show is a monster in terms of challenges - they might start slow and move up the ranks. Or (as Hopkins alluded to) this could be a year they start hot.

We'll all learn a lot of the next week or so... First shows sometimes seem to follow the prior year "ranking" unless a corps clearly sticks out immediately to the judges

  2. Adagio side by side with Medea makes for a pretty meh closer IMO. Those are two awesome source pieces, but the arrangement just keeps stepping on its own feet and doesn't really provide much musical development or payoff for either one. It also hard to see how you'll get a traditional Cadets ending given that Adagio is, well, adagio.

Oh well, two months for it to grow on me.

that isn't the end of the show.

  3. you mean like having issues in the performance captions during the season?

I mean you think the drum judge is going to penalize their score for hashgate? the perc judges tape on the dvd says it all. Outside of effect, really they consistently ranked 2-4 in the captions. outside of 1/2 shows before finals, BD pretty much had them...Cadets were third at San Antonio. Look at Atlanta a month earlier....

recaps on From the Pressbox.com back me up

    yeah.... NOT

The Cadets pulled ahead of BD leading up to worlds. They dominated semi finals (one of the best Cadets performances EVER) and finals - and the judges GAVE it to BD. Even the BD fans sitting around me were surprised when Cadets didn't win semis. Even the announcers thought Cadets won on Finals night.

Shouldn't have even been close. IMHO. Travesty is the word that comes to mind years later still...

And Jeff - you weren't there.

  4. I get this funny (early) feeling that Cadets and Crown will be both killing it this summer

Also get this funny (early) feeling that Regiment & Cavaliers & SCV won't be sitting still either

This might be one for the ages... Cadets seem to have a great percussion summer heating up / Crown will be strong in brass per usual / Cadets guard is rumored to be very strong...

    And then there's BD.

  5. < laughs out loud>

George, you're never happy with anythings are you ?

Why not create your own league and put DCI to shame, maybe you could call it ( wait for it )

Recreational Arts Marching Drum Corps :shutup:/>

I'm happy with plenty. Like Indy. Anywhere half the fans aren't drunk and/or stoned.

  6. 1. It became a matter for the police and stadium security in the upper deck, side two section next to the ones where my family, friends and I were sitting. No foggy memories here. Denial on your part to the reality.

    2. Ask those who marched Cadets that season; Hopkins even had to give a talk to the members about blocking out the booing. Dan Acheson also came and apologized to the members. Denial on your part again.

    3. End of my comments on the topic.

IF finals ever went back to CA I wouldn't attend

That Pasadena crowd was the rudest, drunkest (and yes, pot smell throughout the lots) I've EVER been around. It was disgraceful

  7. Without the moderating, DCP would become just another site weighted down by the impoliteness, lunacy and mean-spiritedness that caused some earlier sites to lose readers in droves once they became stinking cesspools of derogatory excess, unsubstantiated innuendo and off-track viciousness and spam. DCP is an outright refuge of sanity and civility compared to what those sites became. If it were left to the Wild West ways of the Internet, it would suffer the same fate.

Not to mention that we've got a wide variety of smileys to help us clarify our thoughts.

    Exactly.

    Those were scary times!

  8. yup. In 11 years I've had 2 suspensions....one to this day I still say was BS, but it was the old political forum, and I did call the former owner of DCP out on his hypocrisy.

    (snip)

trust me. I'dsay from 02-06, moderation was a DAILY complaint on here. Selectively enforced, only certain forums and people targeted...

    1. just because you "called the former owner of DCP out on his hypocrisy" doesn't mean he was actually being hypocritical ;-)

    2. the moderation was more "daily" back then because of the OT/political forums which is why they were eliminated

    Cheers!

    G.

  9. seemed like a decent crowd to me... didn't seem quite as much as last year, but more than they years prior to that

LOVE it being indoors, and Indy is inexpensive so works for me!

The stadium is not that well designed, but the AC works great and the roof keeps out the rain we seem to get yearly
