Colts program / until the closer "All By Myself" lost me and the crowd
The members displayed good intensity and basics but the staffs program design lets them down
Too bad
Closer with some melody saved the day and grabbed the standing O
Good job Colts
-
Wow!
Teal Sound was fantastic
Strong guard
full (60 member) brass sound
Really strong drumline
Program very well put together
Standing O at the end for the good performance and the spinning cymbals
Modern Circus theme works big time!
Colts entering
Stands are packed

GOOD JOB BY RAIDERS
Big drumline
8 snare
6 cymbal
4 tenor
12 pit
Wow!
Nice modern vibe and good sound out of raiders this year!
-
9 year old local girl sang the athem / Nicole did a great job
Raiders pit set to go / corps proper about to enter. Good sized unit this year!
-
Looks like near sell outGreat to see!
Clouds staying to the south!
-
Looks like a pretty good crowd
Decent size hs stadium / a vip tix was turned in right before i showed up / so lucked out and sitting on 50 3 rows from the top!

At show
Will post a bit
88 degrees and cooling down / front pushing thru with t-storms to the south
-
-
the worst of the storm was passing directly over the show at 7:30 - within 20-30 min the rain should be over
hopefully they can run the show after the delay

When were they out of the thick of things??
that was my way of saying "win this year" ;-)
I personally think Crown & BD's "shows" are better right now - Cadets are performing their "good show" very well right now. It's early & I know much will change
Just feel if they don't change certain things in the end they will finish 3 or 4th.
They typically make good changes - so should be interesting to watch
Crown's in a stronger position right now - but they will need to hose, while Cadets can add things so that battle could go down to the end
Competitively speaking of course. Love them all!
-
Cadets should add big panels on the back of the field (ala 96) that have blue/white/snowflake on the front, but get turned around during the ballad (on) to all white. Guard unis should switch to all white for back half of show. Ramps can stay put reposition them either back field (in front of the panels) or up front. Re-stage ballad to push toward audience - wedge to a cross as it builds. These changes and they'll be right back in the thick of things
I would have personally liked a more "Frenzied" approach to the second tune but maybe that's just me.
Good program this year!

when they add the drum judge in it will shake these up a good bit

A lot of bold statements prior to the first regional! :)

Carolina crown2012, fanfare for the common man. Best use of the company front ever.
Um... no.
Cadets 84 - out of no where
Cadets 87 - dissolving/reappearing
Cadets 94 - backwards company front
Cadets 98 - that epic push
Cadets 07 - "this I believe" crazy front
Cadets 10 - running company front
* I sense a pattern *
95 rotating Madison front
90 Star company front was insane
87 SCV diagonal company front
So many great ones...
Probably 87 Cadets would be my #1 pick since it was epic and innovative

I'm sure lots will change with all the programs...
Personally I felt Cadets (especially), Bluecoats and Regiments were all better designed products at this stage
Crown has some issues right now - especially visually, and in performance percussion -- but wow that brass line is impressive!
Anyway- it's June. By late July all will become clear,
George.

240/340/440 & the sections to either side are the spot to aim for. I found the sound to be better in 240 (less echo) but the angle on the visual is definitely better in 440. If I were going this year, I'd try to buy seats near the top of 240.
Exactly. IF you only need 1 ticket just buy it there - lots of people selling good seats right out front
If you need multiple order asap - but call ticket master vs. trying to do it online - the automated system fills seats differently than what a drum corps fan wants!
George.
-
Agreed! Hope all the members have a rewarding, fun, safe and memorable season!
-
"Know it all" - not "no it all"
It is mid-June / anyone with a "complete program" will either have a mess on the field, or aimed too low in demand IMHO.

Was that THE George Dixon making an appearance?!?!
hahaha. The one and only!
-
ok that FANFARE will no doubt be one of the "moments" of the summer - and the concert bases and tympani - too cool!

-
arrangements seem a step in the right direction - program should grow a lot this summer - nice start for them!

It's really fascinating to watch people passing judgement on all these corps based on a preseason, poor quality web video
Geez - corps are still learning drill
Rewrites to come! And people are talking about balancing with the pit, staging, transitions, and writing various corps and/or programs off
Too funny!
Usually by late July things become clear... sit tight and enjoy folks - season is about to BEGIN :)

I don't think there is much loss here. Those forums really withered, FB became the place to really discuss for a lot of alumni, at least.
Also, sort of a challenge for a brand to keep control of their message, yet have public discussions. Better to keep independent like here.
Exactly
When I started DCP I encouraged a lot of the corps to dump their own forums (for a bit we hosted them here) for exactly this reason / hard to manage the brand and still allow discussion. BD had the busiest of any of the corps forums during its heyday - I've always loved that organization in how it embraces technology - but this is a smart move for them.

um ok this list is a bit odd...
