  1. should they ever.... that mezzo forte sound they put out is nowhere in the same league as crown scv cadets bd or maybe even phantom this year.just try to stomach listening to last years mello at any point in that show if you think they can maybe play.. the truth is that whoever let cavs win brass in 06 is plain out stupid and has no business ever judging again.
  2. I think that Music City should be in finals, If you are wondering about the score inflation today then ok ill bite. They scored upwards of 79 less than a week ago and then with our excellent jjudging in open class they lost 7 points and brought them back to a 72 at the final seeding show. If they would have kept their position a week ago you would see a drastically different lineup going into semis. One that would probably have colt cadets and 7th reg above legends. and with Music City right next to VK
  3. Gotta love how the open judging kinda screwed a few cops and gifted a few others going into the seeding shows. What a joke, well at least the top 2 are correct.
  4. Ok heres what were gonna do were gonna put a bunch of numbers on some dice and just roll em and see what score you will gain or lose from night to night. Oh I mean were gonna judge like the rest of open class judging.
  5. This is the same problem all of the drumline we had at WGI all season went through. The indianapolis regional had a group move up almost 15 points between prelims and finals, what score is real????how do you structure rehearsals when you do not know what to focus on. Are we a box 4 in this or a box 3 should we refine techniques or go back to basics.
  6. I for one think that after seeing al of these corps that troopers are the real deal. I believe that madison does not have the chops to contend with any of the 4 corps around them whatsoever. I think academy may be a little young to get in and it shows in their overall package. Colts are solid yet I dont think they can compare to troopers in all facets. I think troop may be just a bit better than them in all areas and key places like GE. Just my 2 cents..
  7. This is why open class judging is a complete joke again. Music city loses almost 7 points in 4 days, dutch boy jumps 6 points in 4 days legends gettin a ton of love from the music judges yet the sho0w is a complete mess musically. The only thing I agree with from these past shows is the fact that BDB wins and cp reg is right behind them. Great job to citations really reppin the east very well in this class. But can someone explain the lack of judging consistency in open class. I mean get us 1 solid judge and maybe just maybe have them look at the previous shows scores for a ballpark of what the intent is. I know this is unacceptable by dci standards but you can look back in open class this year and see 7-10 point jumps in scores in a matter of 2 days and that is just ridiculous. just my 2 cents. DCI GET A REAL JUDGING SYSTEM.
  8. Quick 2 cents from my trip to paw paw First off a well run show that really had a lot of great corps to view. Very solid crowd that was very respectful of all of the performers tonight. Kudos to michigan fans, you do drum corps right up there. 7th Regiment- A very solid horn sound from the 16 or so brass players I saw. Some obvious issues with drill throughout the show but a very respectable show for 7th this year. Music City- Now I understand the show is corny and very traditional, but #### that hornline is so sweet. I believe they have the purest sound of any hornline i've heard all year with the exception of Crown, PR, SCV. Give them 15 more horns and they will do serious damage. The front half of the show is very solid and looks very polished but it lacks in the closer through appalachain morning. Great first year, look forward to finals placements. Dutch Boy- Pretty solid drumline, hornline really struggles throughout the show but again a very respectable showing for the canadiens. Les Stentors- 8 Horns but they do very well with their size and show design. 1 very strong trumpet soloist really helped out and the pit mounted drumline wasnt half bad either. A very entertaining guard. Spirit of Newark- These kids just had a great tim eon the field. Bravo to them Citations- I don't see the same show the judges see I guess. A decent concept with a solid drumline and hornline. I dunno didnt do much for me, decently executed but blah for me . Cap Regiment- THEY'RE BACK!!!! VK- A fun show but very gimmicky with not a lot of execution as the older corps used to be. Raiders- Wow tone down the recordings of papa and his happy adventures through new york and the new land. Pretty solid show getting a ton of credit for decent execution. BDB- Good rendition of hide and seek. Very talented hornline a little top heavy but hey its BD and thats how they roll. Pretty well executed visual performance. Look for the gold next week. Legends- Took a while for this show to start musically with the pseudo cavies 97 firebird opening for 30 seconds before the music starts. The hornline is very blaring at times and often out of tune. They may be pushing way too hard and the music book seems pretty above the players. Like the guard costumes just expected more from this corps this year. My Placements BDB- 90 Capital Regiment- 88.50 Citations- 80.50 Raiders-80 Music City- 78.50 VK- 76 7th Regiment- 74.50 Legends-73.25 Les Stentors-65 Dutch Boy-60 Spirit of Newark-58 This would be such a great year for open class corps if we went back to the div 2 and 3 seperation. I mean how can legends and music city and a lot of other corps compete with the BDB cap Reg SCVC and Teal Sound. There would be such a great race for div 3 title this year.
