the Minneapolis competition is only 4 hours away and it's gonna be HUGE - EVERY well-known corps is going to be there I'll have to wait and see whether I'm going to be watching it or playing in it (*nervously anticipating audition results )

ah, well, I get a bit defensive when people underestimate the stars, and I do not think the loss of brad green is an issue, the brass caption head (frank sullivan) is excellent and he was the caption head for the cadets in 99, also I believe that Tom Augnst will be a tremendous benefit as far as percussion goes

"No way that the Blue Stars beat Boston this year....these predictions are ridiculous!" - Quote from euponitone 1) Uh, Dude, the Blue Stars have been on the rise for the past 4 or 5 years and remember that they placed 2 places ahead of Boston in '08 ( remind you that they took a difficult approach to drill last year and probably could have finished a spot higher if they did easier drill with better execution) 2) Also, the Blue Stars audition camp had record numbers of people trying out (enough for two FULL corps!) AND the staff was telling the group about how the group of people they have this year is much more intelligent, hard-working, more in tune, and balanced

Blue Stars' audition camp went quite well for me, EXCITING hornline to play with and GREAT music (I am a bit sore from the the visual block but it was so totally worth it!)

sorry dude, not gonna happen, I'd rather shower consistently during the season than be smelled from 15 miles away

don't drop the soap, bring a bottle of axe or old spice instead, got it (lol) the body wash/shampoo kind of course, so you don't have to be bringing in butt loads of crap into the shower

Yeah, trying out for the stars this year, just kinda haunted by that fact that I'm not entirely a social person(I'm not exactly a football player either - 5"7' 125 lbs.) and the fact that I am a younger dude (17) I guess I'll just... have to learn live with it

is there remotely any privacy in any corps? (such as for showering?) or is it something you just have to deal with...?

List the most memorable shows in your opinion I'll start off with the ones I think to be some of the most memorable shows in the past two decades (in no particular order) - Just barely hitting the decade limit for these two (I wasn't even born yet! but these were EPIC shows - I have watched them) (Santa Clara Vanguard '89 - Phantom of the Opera) (Phantom Regiment '89 - New World Symphony) Within many more people's memory: Phantom Regiment '03 - Harmonic Journey Phantom Regiment '06 - Faust Carolina Crown '07 - Triple Crown Carolina Crown '09 - The Grass is Always Greener Cavaliers '06 - MACHINE Cavaliers '02 - Frameworks Blue Devils '07 - Winged Victory Bluecoats '07 - Criminal '09 Personal and Crowd Favorites: Blue Stars - The Factory; Carolina Crown - The Grass is Always Greener; Troopers: Western Side Story

anyone got input on their finals predictions? (yes this was already a topic but I do not see it and it may have been lost or deleted)

Considering a few corps (extended comments/explanations) Cadets - their visual was very hard indeed, their program goes above any other corps though (even if it does get slightly dirty but just look at the difficult moves they do) and no one has even attempted to reach that level Scouts: Ok I agree that scouts will make finals, I don't think they will be able to pass the Stars, or the crusaders for that matter though so I think they will place about 11th, passing up either knights or glassmen Blue Stars: this corps is on the rise, I believe they will pass up crusaders this year, they are moving on up but it will take a few years to make the top 5 - b.t.w. I am auditioning for this corps this 2010 season, whether I make it or not I'll let you know (LOVED the 2009 show - the factory) Crown: same story, but I believe they will take 2nd this year - also a favorite of mine Phantom Regiment: (remembering Faust, On Air, and Spartacus...) where did their visual go? it used to be pretty dang good - I hope they can improve that because they are definitely my favorite corps, their sound is pretty dang consistent and the music isn't ever terrible - predicting 4th (pushing it) - 8th (being pessimistic) Glassmen - I just don't know where the general effect comes from, compared to other corps their programs are very.... interesting "1" wasn't terrible ... continue on that route please if you want to keep making finals Blue Knights - I really liked the brass this year (even if it be a little dirty) the show was quite awesome in '09, predicting 12th or 11th possibly Cavaliers - Despite criticism for the cavaliers' '09 show, I believe that it was quite interesting and I did like the show (it wasn't exactly their show-style) I don't honestly know how they'll place at indy '10

Those with *'s are Simply brilliant, you did forget the blue knights though Well guys, here's my prediction: 1. H.N. Cadets - I think Maria and Tony from W.S.S. will take them to the top; this, I believe (sorry guys, I like crown too, but they did have a lot of age outs, these guys have a really amazing visual program and I really do think this put them up their, I think their brass will be even stronger this year) 2. Crown - They aren't in Kansas anymore (They could either get 1st or second, but their brass-line is solid and a lot of people will want to try out for them, simply amazing how they got to the DCI Elite so fast) 3. BD - Yeah, 1930's... too far back, I don't think they even had drill back then, try this decade or shock everybody and go classical guys - (probably won't get 1st unless they have an "absurd enough" show to keep them up top, ya never know, it's very possible) 4. Cavaliers - The divide in their placement from last year to this year won't be too great (The Cavaliers are consistently in the top 5 but I don't think they are going to be able to get back to the top like they did at the beginning of the decade) 5. SCV - Eureka! We still have many simple gifts to entertain the audience, but our brass isn't as solid as Crown's (Yeah a disappointment to a lot of fans but I think they will probably stay where they are at, due to the fact that they have been in this range for a little bit) 6-8. Phantom Regiment/ Blue Stars/ Bluecoats - this is very hard to decide as a) Phantom will most definitely be On Air, flying slowly back up in the rankings (to make up for last year, I believe that they won't stay at 9th for sure) b) The Blue Stars are working hard in the Factory on that brass, visual, and percussion material (becoming Crown's baby in the fact that they are really stepping up their game and are sounding great) c) Bluecoats - Somewhat of a mystery, but there's no "criminal" investigation needed to know that this corps is definitely one of the stronger 4th-7th place finishers, (I think they'll "knockout" the crusaders, the knights, the glassmen, and whoever the heck finishes 12th at finals) 9. Boston Crusaders - even though that colorguard is tempting, it just doesn't hit the audience as "Suite" as some would like - (Not too much evidence to show that they will improve or worsen) 10. Blue Knights - Some would say that Corps are on fire but brrrr, it's cold, what a nice change from something that relates to anything that includes dark, knight, or something blue in the title (I loved their show this year, i think they will probably take the place of the crusaders in the next few years) 11. Glassmen - probably only "1" explanation to the fact that these guys keep making finals, the judges just haven't told us yet (but yes, they'll definitely make finals, and they aren't terrible, but their style is certainly weird, at least this past year wasn't .... AS weird) 12. I'm as dumbfounded as most, lets take a guess shall we? It'll be one of these: Colts Troopers Spirit Scouts
