I really love the Cadets show! Best use of narration in drum corps ever.

As far as the new drape, not a fan. I think traditional red, white and blue bunting would have been more in character with the historical nature of the show. You know ... the type FDR would actually have been speaking in front of ...
I think the reason it was avoided was because of the rag-tag look it would actually give even if it was historically accurate.

That looks WAY better than the grandmother-house curtains they had before!New drapes

Can they break a record if they don't win every caption? (If SCV wins drums)

I can't figure out why you keep saying this. Have you ever seen the rehearsal in person? Do you have proof? Hoppy himself has point blank said it is live. I'm not sure where you are getting your incorrect info, but perhaps you need a new source!
It is live, it's just not amplified. Whatever, I don't want to be attacked over this...
-
Charlie, seriously, stop it. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. AT ALL.
I've seen them rehearse live. I've seen them perform live. I've seen them on the FN, and I am a *trained* audio engineer. We've had multiple people in the know tell you you are wrong. So for the love of all that's holy, stop perpetuating a lie. Cadets stopped messing around (and that's all it was...messing around) with sequenced voice-over in early June. He's been live ever since. Every. ####. Show.
strange I can't send you a pm?

To everyone :),
What I said does NOT take away from the Cadets amazing performance or the Narrators engaging professional performance. And I think all the comments attacking me here prove what a great job this young man is doing! I give him the utmost respect for his ability to engage the audience through his demeanor and presence. Please continue to enjoy his performance even if you believe that it is his live voice amplified (which it is not). And I don't say this begrudgingly or out of ignorance. And I am really shocked about how defensive everyone seems to be about this....
-
No, it is not. Seriously, stop perpetuating this lie. You're doing a disservice to the performer and his corps.
It isn't a lie. Everything is sampled and his microphone is not real. It's his voice, and he performs it, but what comes through the speakers is from the sampler. I assure that my intention is not to do a disservice the performer and his corps. I merely stating a fact of the performance based on what was told to me from a first hand source and experience that I had when visiting a rehearsal. The narration is coming through the sampler.
-
It's not hard to repeat something you've worked on with the exact same inflections and pacing. Everyone else on the field is doing the same thing (trying to replicate the "right" performance).
I've seen it live when his mic wasn't working, and you can still hear him on the stage, voicing the lines in the exact cadence used when the mic is hot. He's not lip syncing.
I can assure you with 100% accuracy that what you hear is the sampler. He is not actually amplified. When you heard his "mic" not working it was actually the sampler not working. He may perform it live but it is not amplified and comes from the sampler.

I can't believe some folks are still insisting Cadets narrator isn't LIVE
He's performing LIVE!!!!!!!
His performance is lip-synced live! You never found it curious how the narrator sounds exactly the same, with the exact same inflections and space every single time? I don't mind that's its lip-synced because it is in fact his voice and he does a great job acting. However, it is lip-synced. :)

some nice playing here - 2014 Cadets small brass ensemble at Rutgers
It says night beat on the video.

BD is awesome, amazing, entertaining, engaging, and deserve every tenth of their score!!! WOW!!!
-
Each GE Judge judges their side of GE based on different criteria. One might as well say one is on GE Music and one is on GE Visual. It's basically that, except for they won't tell you which one like they used to. Make no mistake about it. That's why the two judges' scores are so different from each other.
except when it came to BD ofcourse.
-
Ok, I can understand, BD and Cadets are winning on the sheets. But with such discrepancy, one judge says 6th, and the other says 2nd, right behind BD, one has to beg to question: What are the sheets? I mean, let's get real lol
Sure but then you have those two GE judges, with two different positions on all the corps, give BD EXACTLY the same score!
Clearly BD's show is beyond indisputable as a GE monster.

Interested see how a big crowd in a big stadium reacts to cadets new ending.

Well you know how loved the Cadets are on here.
You're right. I forgot where I was. :)
-
He was speculating because he wasn't there. Cadets won visual proficiency so not sure where the discussion come from.
It started because of someone's opinion that Cadets had the worst feet tonight. I'm glad the judges thought differently, but wondering why it wasn't convincingly so.

that stadium is turf guys
Then there is no excuse!!

It's a strong year for drums this year. I feel like Crown would've scored a bit higher last year if they had the drum book and line that they have this year.
Probably...
-
For corps that really book, grass fields are deadly.
Plus Cadet technique looks awful in grass... It's not something that the technique really lends itself too because of the higher steps needs to make it through tall grass.
-
Crown's drums are going to keep them from moving ahead of SCV or Coats I think. It looks like they'll finish 6th there again.
I'm surprised and then not surprised and then disappointed. At first I was sure it was the design of the book. However seeing a 3 point spread between comp and performing makes me think its something else as well...
-
Wow, check out Cadets in DRUMS!
Cadets have been revamping, adding, changing (and ofcourse cleaning) much of their book recently. After getting dumped in the composition many shows this summer, it seems the changes they have made are paying off!

I didn't hate it during the season. I hated it before the season.
