Hey BariDad. SCOTUS declared Stolen Valor Act limits Free Speach - So, I guess that means I can tell the world I'm the first Navy Musician to be awarded 3 Congressional Medals' of Honor. How many do you want???
Oh, a Navy Cross and maybe an Air Medal. (Just kidding!!!!)
We'll just have to root out the fibbers and expose them, kinda like here on DCP. LOL

Turf temp is Bloooooming HOT!!!
Just perfect for Spirit of (Hot) 'Lanta!
-
If Madison is doing the encore and doing ESOM, I'm sorry I'm not there to here it. It was tremendous in Finals.
Oh, by the way.... GO SPIRIT!!! <(
-
Secondly, I find that interesting that 12.25 is considered by the MM's to be more difficult than last year's show.
Maybe this is a question to ask again at the end of the season. Then the MMs who marched both shows can compare from the standpoint of knowing both shows "Finals ready".
-
Did Spirit have some re-writes or changes that they put in for this show? Or was it not the best run for them? Just trying to figure out why their score was off tonight?
The word on the FB page is it was just an off night--it just "didn't click". Nothing that can't be addressed and fixed.
-
Some photos from the show via Spirit's FB page.
Spirit's Drum Major's podium is setup only a yard or 2 in front of the grandstand (which, as has been said in this thread, goes straight up. See 2nd photo).
Good job to Spirit and all the Corps for dealing with what appears to be an unusual setup.
And--good job to the front row spectators for being able to collect your faces after the show. The clean-up crew appreciates your efforts.

No scores for Govies or MBI?
MN Brass 76.6
Govenaires 65.9
-
And we have recaps!
-
Assuming those scores are right, everyone went up except Spirit. Off night, off judges, either way it's June and another exciting drum corps season!
I heard it was an off night for Spirit. But hey, it's still only June! Better to get them "off nights" over with instead of saving them up for August.
Congrats to ALL the Corps! Kudos to Bluecoats!

TIme for Bluecoats?
Any reports on the other Corps?
-
And recaps are up! Once again Cadets and Crown split the 1s and 2s.
-
I am a GM1. Waiting on those Chief results in August. Would be awesome to attend Finals as a CPO Selectee!!! That is before the pain starts for CPO Induction lol.
Ooooo Gunner's Mate. That's going to be a heck of a CPO induction! I hope you survive!

Congratulations to you also - and thank you for serving! It is a new rate for me - Information Technician was someone on the sound powered phones when I was in. Ha Ha!
Yep--they were called DP1 when I was in. I didn't recognize IT1.
Thanks for serving!!
-
Nothing would make me happier than to have Crown and Cadets battle all season long, up until finals night. I just think the competitiveness pushes the kids harder, and the final product will be that much better!
I hear you and agree such a battle is great for Drum Corps.
But...I don't think the old ticker can take a repeat of 2009!

email me sometime and maybe we can compare notes sometime.
Roger that!
-
To both you and oldsnare... thank you for your service and for your input here in DCPland!
You're welcome. It was my honor to serve!
-
Great - Mu-2 me also!! It was a nice gig. and you got to retire from the military - nice going. Thank you for serving!
Mitch
Yeah--I couldn't make MU1--all the promotion spots went to the US Navy Band and Annapolis. But was messing around with synths (which is why you won't hear me bad mouthing synths here on DCP) and got into computers.
And thank you for your service!!!
