  1. You can (and most people do) cheer both corps. Cheering is a positive expression that is not intended to offend. Booing is the exact opposite. It is about intent. Cheering one corps says absolutely nothing about the other corps.
  2. What's the difference? They are still upset that Crown is not placed higher than BD. Saying they were upset Crown wasn't higher is EXACTLY THE SAME THING as saying they were upset BD was not lower.
  3. It's an insult to anyone with a brain to suggest that the booing wasn't a comment on BD. What are you booing the judges for? You are booing them because they put BD in first place. How could that possible NOT be interpreted as a comment on BD and those that march in that corps. It isn't about design either ... as design is only a fraction of scoring. Scores are determined by those on the field. Booing scores is a comment on those on the field. It really is that simple. Don't try to justify it with this "booing the judges" crap.
  4. I don't really think it makes any difference when the booing happened. It is quite clear what the booing was about and to say it wasn't a comment on BD is just plain silly.
  5. Yes ... you are booing the fact that the judges rewarded a corps you don't like. How on earth is that not a comment on the corps you don't like? This isn't like a football game where you can boo the refs on a bad call without insulting one team or the other. It is booing a corps the won because you didn't want them to win. There is nothing that you can say that will change that ... and I would have to think that it would suck to be a member of that corps that has put in a lot of work to win only to be loudly booed because of it.
  6. You think the people on the field that just got booed for winning don't feel hurt because of the booing? Come on ... you aren't that naive, are you?
  7. Huh? I have never said I hated drum corps "back in the day" ... nor have I said anything about keeping the current slate of judges. In fact, if you were paying attention ... I said it was a joke that BD beat Crown tonight, in my opinion. None of that has anything to do with the obvious logical fallacies in your reasoning. And you sure seem to have a lot of overly dramatic end-of-the-world complaints about a completely innocuous show from a corps you don't hate. When was the last time you liked a BD show?
  8. If drum corps fans think The Rite of Springs is in poor taste, I'm not sure I want to associate with them anymore.
  9. Seriously? I am completely confused by this line of reasoning. All we hear from you and other BD haters is how much better it was back in the day. And now it is old judges that are the reason why BD is winning? That is not logically consistent at all.
  10. So it is the older generation that prefers BD over Crown now? I thought it was the traditionalists that were appalled by the new direction BD was headed.
  11. I have loved everything I have seen from all the corps so far this year. That isn't always the case (it wasn't the case last year). It is going to be an amazing season, and you can't count The Cadets out either.
  12. Wouldn't be surprised to see The Cadets swoop in and steal it from everyone. Haven't seen their entire show yet, but what I have seen looks pretty awesome. I know they haven't scored as high, but you can't really compare scores from different shows at this point.
  13. I just don't get what there is to hate about BD's show. Its not my favorite, but it is nowhere near something I hate. And compared to the last few years, it is pretty straight forward. It isn't the show that people are hating. It is the corps and its history of success ... and that is shameful, in my opinion. There is nothing about the show that is even close to appalling.
  14. Huh? You couldn't tell BD was playing The Rite of Spring? You must not be very familiar with The Rite of Spring. The music was pretty straight forward
  15. I don't think they are reacting emotionally to the show. The show isn't really that controversial. Nor does it evoke much emotion (which may be my biggest problem with it ). They are just expressing their BD hate, which has developed over the years after watching BD beat their favorite corps nearly every year.
  16. Right ... they were booing BD's placement in first. I don't like the placement, but I'm not going to make BD feel like crap because of it.
  17. I really don't get the Blue Devils hate. I imagine it was coming regardless of what they did tonight. It isn't my favorite show and I think it is a joke that they beat Crown ... but why do people need to denigrate them and boo them? It is a good show with good music.
  18. If the "average fan" doesn't understand that The Rite of Spring is about pagan rituals ... they don't know much of anything about music. What type of music should they be playing that would be easy for the "average fan" to understand? Classic rock? Show tunes?
  19. You love Rite of Spring ... and you are complaining about dissonance? :doh:/>
  20. I think they are used well in spots. They are depicting pagan rituals.
  21. Not in love with BD show. There are parts I love. I love the source material (the Brenzel ... I am ambivalent aout the Stravinsky). They just seem to leave some of the best parts of the source material out for reasons I don't quite understand. I loved the Dada show from the first time I saw it last year. I don't hate this show by any means, but I am not jumpong off my coach either. We'll see if it grows on me. Thought it was quite sloppy in spots too.
  22. What are you confused about? It seems pretty straight forward to me.
  23. It has nothing to do with "intellectualism". It is about taste. I love it.
