  1. I don't want to imagine the cost of the tour all together! I didn't like looking at how much I had to pay myself, luckly my parents lent me a hand being a skint student that I am. As I mentioned, we would love to come back!
  2. We would love to have you guys come over!
  3. Ahh that was a great show, the crowd were immense!
  4. Cheers, I wish we were coming next summer but we're not! However there has been a request by the memebers to do it again at some point, but it won't be next year. Thanks for having us guys, can't wait if we do it again as you guys were great to us!
  5. Hi, Can anyone recommend a silent brass system for a trumpet? I know of a couple such as the Yamaha one. Anyone know whats the best to practice with?
  6. Madison is the corps that I am planning to audition for. I'm lucky to know some alumni and ex staff members which I have spoke to about the audition process, I just need to get myself up to standard. This year has helped alot with our tour because I feel I've improved a considerable amount compared to previous years. Thanks everyone for your tips and advice, its great to know that within our community there are people willing to help out instead of trying to hinder people's ambitions. Cheers guys it does mean alot to me, everything that has been said will be taken into consideration.
  7. Cheers mate, thanks for the help. Its a bit obvious that one though as I wouldn't be making a 4000+ mile trip to make a fool of myself. Also I'd go over giving all I got as I wouldn't want to be wasting anyones time.
  8. Cheers, I'm very lucky to have the staff that I have at my home corps. For example my caption head is alumni at the corps I want to audition at, so he knows how hard it is to do and so far from being taught by him I feel i've improved alot especially this year with the America tour etc.
  9. I agree, loved that show. Another quality production from the Statesmen.
  10. I'm not considering auditioning for a top 5 corps. Saying that in the time from now to when I audition they could be up there. But the reason why I am considering it for my age out is because I am at university for two years now, I've also took into consideration taking alot of time to get up to the standard to try my hardest to get in. If it don't happen it don't happen but in the end of the day I would of put the effort in to try and that would still mean something.
  11. I'll be definately working on fitness levels and shedding some weight before I go and i've got plenty of time to do that. Hopefully if it don't go succesfull then I can find another place somewhere else but its just gonna hard trying to sort that out especially being over in the UK.
  12. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any top audition tips that they think has gave them the upper hand whilst auditioning for a corps? In no way am I trying to "cheat", I just don't have much knowledge of the audition process. I'm strongly considering auditioning for my age out in a couple years time. Cheers
  13. A chap I march with mentioned something about soaking your gloves in lemon juice, and if your suffering with a dry mouth in the show to suck on your glove. Of course you'd need to do this in the most discreet manner possible.
  14. The corps I help out at in the UK have loads of these 2 valved bugles. I think we've got a variety of makes, just used with the cadet corps as something for them to start off on. However it didn't help the other day when I tried to teach some of the senior corps music which required a 3rd valve!
  15. Looks quite neat and fits a treat in the concept of the show. Thanks, gives you an excuse to come over to Europe if you didn't get to see us live!
  16. I do hope our visual team don't mind me giving it away, all we did is get tape measures and make the tape inside red. Then they get attached onto the bass drums and then the tenors and snares would pull them out. Very cleverly done, I remember the first time they put it in the show they could of fooled me that it was original untill I seen the Bluecoats show. Of course i'm sure they aren't taking any credits for the original idea.
  17. It would be easy for me to say everything was my favourite moment! But I have to mention somethings, - The crowd reactions at the Bridgeport show and at Finals. - Getting to watching the Empire Statesmen rehearse and performing our shows to each other. - All of the Empire Statesmen's show, proper class drum corps! - Meeting loads of different people in other corps (going on for retreat was an experience itself) - Sharing corps songs with the Kilties. - Quality I&E performances. - Great atmosphere on Friday night, getting to watch the Caballeros rehearse, the mass drumline etc - Doing Britain proud! - Sharing two weeks with a great bunch of people, living the dream! I can't think of anything that wasn't my favourite moment.
