Ok, I think I got it now: 1) Cavies are executing drill better than anyone 2) Blue Devils are executing music better than anyone 3) Crown has most entertaining / well-executed show 4) Cadets have next most entertaining / well-executed show WHERE in the world do you figure out how to rank these guys!!!! It's gonna be CLOSE!!!!!

The ballad ending was MUCH better before (watch Denver). Even the crowd clapped more. I just hate it when they remove something that I loved in a show.

Next up: Cavaliers These guys started out of the gate in the lead this year. They are all about (what for it...) execution. The show really never sold me yet. Love the gimmicks (aka drums / trumpets upside down) and love the marching. I always love the cavies' style of marching, no matter what they do. Bring it boys!!

Like I said on a previous thread, the changes are not making the show better. As far as things go, this was a step back from DATR in Denver for Phantom. Brass line was very unbalanced tonight, many voices sticking out. Drum line was all over the place tonight. Very disappointed tonight, but hey, its only one show. Could easily see them drop to 7th tonight.

Next up: Phantom. My favorite show (well, maybe not after what Crown just did) this year. The brass book is out of this world. Listen for the haunting melodies by the baritones, the middle solis by each section (especially the lower brass part), and the incredible Elsa's closer. They have changed it since DATR (for the worse, I believe) but it will be much more familiar to all of those who have heard PR play Elsa's before. Bring it guys!!!

Uh, yeah, I might have just gotten a new favorite show this year :) WOW They have finally gotten the show to a point where I can definitely see them winning it. No joke. This is a very entertaining show, and it is well executed. The drumline and hornline are well balanced and the drill is well executed. No doubt the movie premiere this year made a difference. The corps are looking incredible for this time of year.

Is it just me, or did that not come out right?

Ok, next up: Crown. These guys just put in a HUGE change at the end, which many of you will see (and hear) shortly. I have been saying that if they can get the last 1/3 of this show like the first 1/3, they are going to make a run for it....well, after seeing their recent changes I think they might just have what it takes. Can't wait to see them tonight, bring it Crown!!

It's not you. They were a mess at Denver. Tonight they are sounding like a Top 3 drumline.

They had upped the volume and had reset it back to the original audio levels (which were very faint on most speakers/headphones). Volume is good now, thanks!!!!

Holy **** Cadets, nice recovery from DATR!! You are executing the **** out of this show tonight. wow. This is why I had you #1 early season. You have a chance tonight.

These guys are clearly performing at a level at or around Madison Scouts this year. Brass sounds WAY better than I last heard them in Quincy. Overall, much higher than SOA, Glassmen, or Blue Knights.

I keep wanting to hear the 1992 phantom book when I hear this show :)

From what I have seen from Boston this year, the guard is the highlight of the show.

People. Those of you who haven't seen the movie and don't understand why there would be scaffolding on this years show, please go away! You sound very stupid.

Don't miss it -- the Boston opening chord is the best thing of this years show. Talk about in your face!

Good visual changes at the end of the show. I would put Blue Stars very close to or above SCV tonight.

Thanks for the explanation, makes complete sense and I think I already figured that the mics were at the box instead tonight. Makes an amazing difference, doesn't it? Yes, please bump up the dB...I think I can speak for the rest of us, we don't mind turning down the levels if it gets too high :)

I do agree the spread is getting really thin. Blue Devils drumline @ DATR was pretty insane. Haven't seen Cavies drumline in a few weeks, and Cadets drumline was pretty sloppy at DATR.

How SCV is getting scored anywhere near Phantom Regiment is anyone's best guess... this show is just not getting it done for them. I could easily see Blue Stars passing them tonight with this performance.
