  1. Speaking of professional, I would like to draw attention to the fact that when Christian Carichner left Academy for PR, the announcment on the Academy website not only told that Mr. Feagin would be the new captionhead, but also told about how great Mr. Carichner was for them. Also, on the Academy Facebook page, Richard Hinshaw (Academy Design Caption Head) congratulated Mr. Carichner on his new job
  2. Not True. Sure he had a couple Phantom Vets but in reality most of the Academy staff are Academy or BD vets
  3. I hear there is a trumpet hole and possibly a euphonium hole at The Academy
  4. Nice. I think that and running with the contra are the 2 hardest things you will have to do.
  5. Oh sorry I should have clarified. I play mellophone, but it is true about contra being really tough. You are definately going to want to practice holding at "set" for long periods of time.
  6. Thanks I only would have made it though because at least 5 (maybe more) people dropped I'm sure you'll be able to make it on your first try too. It sounds like you really want to make it and are working hard to acheive your goal.
  7. Im 14 (almost 15) and going to be a sophomore. I tried out for the Academy and made callbacks and eventually would have joined because there were so many holes, but my parents wouldn't let me march so I did this trainee program they have. I pretty much went to all of their camps until the end of May.
  8. Yeah I made my mom read and she still wouldn't let me march this year cause I am "too young" but she is a lot more motivated to support me financially now.
  9. Maybe also have her go to the parent section of dci's website. There is a lot of helpful info about how great drum corps is and has statements from other parents saying how glad they are that their kid did it.
  10. NICE!! you see if people know you really care, they will go out of their way to help you. Good job
  11. No, The Academy has one on the solo at the beginning.
  12. Oh. thats a bummer. Good luck and hope to see you marching next summer.
  13. Another way (I have no idea if any of the corps you are looking onto have this) is some corps have grocery card programs where if you shop at a certain grocery store, you get a percentage of what you spend. I personally have gotten as much as $300 a month by doing this. Contact your corps and ask them about. If they do have a program like this, ask family and friends to help. It is little trouble and no cost to them, and it helps you amazingly.
  14. Confusing, but it think I get what you mean, and that is true
