Alan, If you could find the time at some later point, I *would* be interested to hear what you have to say about it. I posted on a similar thread about the differece between G & B bugles, and all anyone could come up with were opinions on which sounded better. I am interested in what makes the difference in the quality of the sound (if there truly is any.) I'll subscibe to this thread, looking for updates. Thanks

wHa? Seriously, I'd be interested in understanding the rationale as well. I have read everyone's *opinions* about it, but, in the course of this discussion, I'd like for someone to explain *how* the pitch of an instrument--any instrument, renders its sound inherently superior? In other words everything equal, (shape, valving, etc.) what is it that makes the actual difference in the sound?
