Same here .. Sennheiser 650s through a Benchmark DAC. And yes, the sound sucks. Lots of ugly compression, etc.... but one would be ignorant to blame Flo for field vs electronics balance problems when Flo has no control on where corps place their stacks or what levels they crank them out at. C'mon, folks...

Not really. It's standardized to tall pickups on the 35s with a stereo pair on the 50, all just outside the pit "box".

You can't adjust field pickups differently for every corps. Logistically impossible. Each corps need to work their speaker stack setups to achieve BOTH field coverage and avoid bleed into the Flo mics, which have a standardized setup that EVERY corps could adjust to, if they would just pay attention.

Pretty sure Flo mic placement is standardized at all events ... mains on 35s and 50. Now if only corps would take that into account when designing where they place speaker stacks

Cadets just posted a short video on FB that starts with a shot of a snare drummer playing a drum with a new (i.e. not 2018) finish. It goes by quick, but looks like a maroon sparkle.
