  1. Really enjoyed last nights presentation. The sound was so much better than last year! Blue Stars were dirty, at points it looked like they had holes in their drill, maybe this is the case. With some work this show could be something, obviously, they won't stay like that for long. Phantom blew me away, the guard was excellent. The drill was well written, which something that has been holding them back in the past. I felt the Nessun Dorma soloist was drowned out a bit. Not sure if it was just microphone placement or if that is a real issue. I felt that Nessun was a little over written. but aside I loved the show, I just hope they don't peak to early. Crown, obviously this show was conceived with Lucas Oil in mind, those stereo bass drums and tympani will be killer. The brass book is ridiculously hard and I thought it was executed well for this time of year. Guard uniforms...WTF not sure how it fits. Overall wasn't a big fan of the concept but feel that I have wait to see it live to really feel the impact of the show. Could be the year for them if everything falls in place. they certainly have the demand and intent. Cavaliers, Michael Gaines is no longer the drill writer and everyone is just going to have to get over it. It is going to take a few shows for them to adapt. They are going in a different direction this year and need to find themselves which I am sure they will. I liked some of the music and the percussion was excellent. However, I don't see them being a serious contender to for the gold this year. Cadets- They were the Cadets. Those guard uniforms are hideous, looks like Christmas on acid. but they performed well for themselves. The arrangements are excellent and well played by the hornline, really enjoyed Do you Hear. Drill was typical, clean for this time of year. With the new judging system, they could take it home again this year. I personally thought the Bluecoats percussion was better. Bluecoats- WOW, I didn't hear anything about them before last night and I was floored. The most complete package of the night by far. What a sound. They lost me towards the end of the show though and I think I wasn't the only one. If they fix that they could medal again this year. Percussion was excellent and what a big sound from the hornline. Really enjoyed the opener. Looking for them to make some serious moves this year.
