  1. How odd it was when I saw this in Orlando... the soloists are playing to a microphone instead of the crowd... :( I have heard that the corps do this for the acoustics of a dome... along with other reasons. Orlando had no dome. I noticed several other people in the crowd looking at each other during these moments wondering WTF. Ugh.
  2. It was the Cadets that I found so odd. All of the horn line is at the front sideline bells up and jamming at one point in the show... then there are these two leads angling their horns aimed somewhat downward to this mic on the sideline. To be honest, I think I would have heard them better had they had their bells pointed at my face....
  3. It's been many years since I paid attention to drum corps, about 26 to be exact... However, my son is marching this summer and I went to the Orlando show Saturday night. I couldn't believe I saw lead trumpets in one of the corps screaming with their horns down and into a mic instead of up at the crowd. Ugh. There were other parts of the show that had mic'd brass as well and I simply don't get that at all. Is this common? Is it just me that finds this unappealing? I was glad to see the minimal amount of electronics though overall. From what others had told me over the last few years, I was concerned about that...
