  1. They have kind of owned the Ott in recent memory... Isn't this thread about the horn line anyway?
  2. Was chatting with someone who asked me to upgrade my flash... had to disconnect to do so. Now the chat button is gone and they replaced it with a messages essentially saying things aren't working.
  3. 4th in line to chat with tech support... I am sure they will have me clean my cookies and other useless things...
  4. So is DCI saying the statements made by the announcer right before they announced the caption results must have been incorrect. They clearly stated that caption awards were averages between the three nights. In the event of a tie in the caption average result, the tie breaker would be the corps with the highest score in that caption on finals night. Can someone confirm exactly what the policy and scoring criteria was on finals night? I have reread these threads many times and seem to still come away not knowing this fundamental answer. I may just simply be crazy and not see what is right in front of my eyes.
  5. Based on the criteria they announced right before the caption announcement, Crown should have won this caption outright. Average was a tie. Crown had the highest score at finals... done deal. Right? From what I heard, Crown has the actual trophy...
  6. I swear that happened to SCV in Atlanta the other night, too. BD did some cheer from the tunnel during the end of SCV's show that I could hear in the nose bleed seats.
  7. haha! Second most absurd post I have read... I have no idea what they are saying or what I am missing... but I love it! Sorry... couldn't resist.
  8. Probably the most absurd post I have read all summer...
  9. It was one of the moments I remember the most from my limited career... playing the standstill after the show and having the BD horn line stand in front of us. If I remember correctly, their brass staff made them stand in front and listen.
  10. Remember winning the horn caption at the Devil's reunion home show in '86? :)
  11. Don't thinks so... this is the closest spread to date.
  12. It must have been the home crowd... Thank you crowd for being there!
  13. I was thinking the same thing as I read through this thread. Oddly missing is the vehement defense from overzealous fans.
  14. Still marching a contra hole right on that corner... so you know.
  15. I remember watching The Next Great Artist on Bravo a few years ago (my daughter had it on and I happened to be sitting there... ) Well, some guy named Miles made two concrete buttholes using concrete and plastic bags. For his display, he laid down on a table with the two buttholes on the floor on either side of him and acted like he was asleep. The judges loved it and he won that episode. I didn't understand that either. Perhaps the caption should be renamed to Elitist Effect in lieu of General Effect...
  16. Full disclosure... Crown marcher dad here. Caught the show after the fact tonight and watched the top 5 only on the fan network (great to have the extra show tonight!) I went back and watched the shows in order of interest to me... Crown, BD, Cadets, Phantom, SCV. My take: Texas heat maybe taking a toll on all corps maybe? Saw lots of dirt from all top 5 corps. BD: Contempt fades with familiarity... First time the show didn't annoy me. Saw some dirt in the drill I don't recall seeing before tonight. They play the heck of out the show but I wish there was more fan appeal. I wonder what a member feels like favored for a championship in a show that "most" don't get. Can't fault the corps for esoteric design. Cadets: Again, more dirt than I remember seeing previously. Lots of missed forms. On the FN playback, the quartet at the beginning sounded muffled and cloudy. Not sure if the mic'd trumpets were affected by physical limitations of the stadium or the FN didn't do it justice. Overall, it seemed flat to me. SCV: I am a sucker for the Planets... still had lots of dirt in the drill and some ensemble problems. Even through FN I could here some euph's and sops sticking out. Overall, I enjoyed the show and felt they made a solid performance. Phantom: Cleanest show overall tonight for me. A few horn line ensemble issues but overall, I feel they had a great performance. Very clean and enjoyable... Crown: Dirtiest show I can recall for them. The closer was especially problematic including the last set... ugh. What an uphill battle to get that cleaned with a complete rewrite of the drill (although I do like the new drill so much better!). Beyond the closer, they just seemed tired tonight. Still the most emotional and engaging show in my most biased opinion but needs a lot of work to get it where it needs to be in terms of cleanliness. That's my two cents for anyone who gives a ####. Looking forward to tomorrow night! :)
  17. Crown has two girls on bass this year. Someone posted a close up hidef video from the stands at MN. I am pretty sure they show up in there somewhere. Check the YouTube links on the last couple pages in their thread.
  18. I heard they are close but that they are a few sets short of being completed with it. Probably it will be after the two day show break coming up... Maybe debut at regionals... We will see. I hear it is epic!
  19. Although I agree with you... you lost me at "irregardless". Ugh.
  20. Watched BD's show on VOD yesterday for the first time with great anticipation... Pretty much sums up my thoughts.
  21. That would at least make it look like they are playing to the crowd. Perhaps I would't have notice it! :)
