Figured I would go ahead and start up this corps thread for 2023 since I just found out that my son was contracted to march contra for the Mandarins!

The Fro is headed north to Sacramento for 2023!

    So proud of my boy!

    See you all in Indy!

    Go Mandarins!

@Chief Guns I heard the Mandarins have a requirement that parents of a rookie must do at least 2 weeks of tour that includes a trip to the east coast. 😉 Is that true?

    And, Congratulations!!

I also heard from a 2022 MM that they spent 5.1 mill on the A corps mid season.

How on Earth could $5,100,000 be spent mid-season?

I may have met fighterkit once, so I can't say that I really know them. And I certainly don't speak for them.

My interpretation of their comment is that at mid-season they had a conversation with an SCV mm and heard that Vanguard was spending 5.1 million on the A corps for the entire 2022 season (not just to the mid-season point).

In my opinion, it's the only possible thing that makes sense.

Forgive me. Given the wild world we live in, I guess I momentarily, but blissfully, forgot about the pandemic... of all things. Thanks @contraguard05and @Barneveld. 😞I'm usually better about affording some grace to VMAPA for decisions made during that time.

You're welcome! No worries, I also have the occasional bout of CRS (Can't Remember Sh..) 🤣

Back to the 990... specifically page 28, Part X, number 5: "Refunds due to members" is $75k. What's that about? Remembering this is the 2021 filing... so it can't be from this off season's audition fee refunds. Is this line item or amount common? I get that this is a drop in the bucket, I'm just curious. Paging @Richard Lesher.

Just a guess from an outsider.........

When Covid cancelled the 2020 season, many corps allowed members to apply those fees, already paid, to the 2021 season. I'm guessing SCV did the same.

When Vanguard didn't come out in 2021 refunds might have been issued?

Anyone know when finals tickets go on sale and when the site will be back up? Not able to view your schedules for days now 😢

According to ticketbastard, finals tickets will go on sale Monday, December 5th at noon. I'm not sure, but guessing that's the eastern time zone.

On September 9, 2022, in News

We are proud to announce that the BACBattery will be performing at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) this year! Our entire battery will travel to Indianapolis in November to perform excerpts from our 2022 production, “Paradise Lost” alongside Director of Percussion Colin McNutt.

PASIC is one of the world’s largest percussion conventions, showcasing performing artists, ensembles, and industry advancements from around the world. This year’s convention takes place from November 9th-12th at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Our performance will be on Saturday, November 12th at 1 pm in the Sagamore Ballroom and is open to all PASIC attendees. We will also be streaming live on our Facebook page for those who wish to view from home. Please stay tuned for more information on how to tune in.

Previously, the BACPercussion performed at PASIC in 2018 with their presentation “Day in the Life of a DCI Percussion Section”. The battery and front ensemble, along with caption heads Colin McNutt and Iain Moyer, demonstrated the technique, exercises, and repertoire performed on our 2018 tour.

Do they currently have tickets available for 2023?

    Super 3 ticket package

All package orders must be submitted by Friday, September 30, 2022. There will be no package sales after that date.

Your payment will be processed in the coming weeks to reserve your spot in the order it was received. Seating assignments will be completed after this time and tickets will be sent via email from Ticketmaster in early 2023.

Single-event tickets are anticipated to go on sale to the general public early in December, 2022 through Ticketmaster.

Note for the Thursday, August 10 event: In an effort to assist with stadium logistics, all Thursday night seating will be in the 400 level or below. Individuals requesting the 500/600 levels for Super 3 tickets will be placed in the lower sections for Thursday and have 500/600 level seating for Friday and Saturday events.
