  1. Yep! Here's the opener of '97 Cadets. https://youtu.be/IyTh-5jYG2o
  2. '97 Cadets show was AWESOME. Thought they should have won that year too! :-)
  3. To me, it's not the difficulty of the move that impresses me; it's the effect. Just like when the rifles are all tossed at the same time and same height and they hit the guard members' hands and make that one sound. LOVE IT! I like the big hit of color with the flags in close proximity.
  4. Winning? Is this why we do it? https://youtu.be/-xVFMTKechw
  5. I really enjoyed the 2010 Bluecoats at the beginning of their show when the flags were in a triangular formation in the front and spun in unison. The blast of color is so cool. See the short clip. https://youtu.be/mPk7yMeiqdE
  6. I really liked Crown's 2010 show as well. I've really liked their shows since 2005. That's when I noticed a huge difference in their brass sound. Been hooked ever since.
  7. I like it because it reminds me of a military unit. It is disciplined and classy. They are acting as a unit and will stay at attention until their leader tells them to rest. It's cool and I wish they would come on the field like they did in the past :as a block. Corps used to do that and I liked it when they came on the field with a cadence. It just showed each corps' individuality and it got me hyped up for the performance. I like seeing everyone in step because it looks sharp and dignified.
  8. That's funny because I didn't like Tilt as much as I liked Kinetic Noise. I think it was the music that just pulled me in and was mesmerizing to me. I think they used the electronics very effectively.
  9. Bluecoats were at the top of my list because I thought their music was so cool. Cadets drill and constant movement was awesome too!
  10. I believe this happened in the 90's with DCI. I used to go to the Hershey competition every year (combined DCA/DCI shows) and had my tickets purchased. Then, I got a letter in the mail stating that Hershey was using the stadium for a rock concert instead and that I was getting a refund for my tickets. It really ticked me off because this area doesn't have any good drum corps shows nearby any more and Hershey was very convenient as it was close. Not only did DCI/DCA stop having competitions there, I stopped going to Hershey Park since they seem to care more about making money than keeping their commitments.
  11. Can't wait to see this show! Always enjoy Vanguard.
  12. I really like Turning. It's very dissonant but then comes around to a glorious climax. I'm excited to hear it LIVE in Chester!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. That's what we did in 2009; we bought the 3-day package as soon as tickets went on sale. I believe we chose the cheaper seats and wanted to be up high but when we got up there the sound was so bad. it was really hard to hear the corps especially during soft parts of the shows. I remember we tried to get seats closer to the 50 but ended up on the 30-yard line. They weren't bad visually. I thought that we got pushed out because the Friends of DCI got the choices before we did. If that's not totally the case, then I won't bother joining.
  14. OK. i will e-mail them and ask. i'm not looking to be on the 50-yard line or anything like that but i wanted to get down in the lower section nearer to the center than we were in 2009. the sound sucked up in the upper section where we were and if i'm paying that kind of money for tickets, i'd at least like to have decent sound. i just wanted to see if that was possible by contributing to DCI. i think it would be worth the donation if that were possible.
  15. Right. I know for the Silver membership ($500) you get 1 complimentary premium seating ticket package and option to purchase another package. I know when we went in 2009 a 3-day package was over $300 for our seats, so it may be worth paying for the membership just to get a free package and option to purchase another one to get better seats.
  16. That makes sense. Thanks for the advice. I looked at the seats for 2016 finals and all of the premium seats near the 50-yard line are sold out. Maybe it would just be better to buy the 3-day package as soon as the seats go on sale like I did in 2009. I don't want to buy a membership and end up having the same kind of seats as I would if I weren't a member.
  17. A friend of mine and I are talking about going to finals in 2017 and I was wondering if becoming a DCI contributor is a good way to get better seats for a better price. We went in 2009 and I wasn't a member and we had to sit on the 30-yard line up high. For 2017, I would like to get closer to the 50-yard line and down in the lower sections (because I think the sound will be better). When I was checking out the "Friends of DCI" memberships, it mentions getting better seats as one of the benefits. My question is it worth becoming a "Friend of DCI" in that you can obtain better seats at Finals (all 3 days) and actually save some money?
  18. This show is why I'm a Cadets fan today.
  19. Who cares if they did do a show about that before? It's not going to be the same thing, so I'm not sure it really matters.
  20. Good here, jonwoody, but so depressed that the drum corps season is still so far away.
  21. I saw them at Chester (for the reveal) and at Allentown and thought they looked "slower" than when I saw them on video in the traditional uniforms. I like the cream pants because of the way their legs look when marching.
  22. I was excited to see the black uniforms last year but was not impressed with them when I saw them on the field. The Cadets' movement seemed less noticeable because of the black. Honestly, the only corps that looked good in black was Phantom Regiment in my opinion. Those uniforms looked sharp.
  23. Right but who says the color guard will be made up to look exactly like the picture? it could just be for the concept at this point.
