does anybody in this thread have a life?
No, none whatsoever! My only past time is living vicariously through my fellow nerds on dcp

What corps?
I’m thinking Anaheim Kingsmen, VK or Freelancers

Ah yes. As someone about to grade another round of undergraduate essays, i'm steeling myself for the eventual... "Since the dawn of time, it has been known that..."
If I read another bio with “so and so comes to us with a wealth of experience” I may just lose it

Wow, just got told by someone that the majority of potential DCI corps members audition for multiple corps (at $500 a crack) so they can chase a ring. Will leave out the “not so complimentary” terms but sounds far fetched to me. But was told “if you don’t believe me ask around “ so here we are.
And yes I asked and was told “majority”.
If you’re chasing a ring wouldn’t you limit your auditioning process to one corps? 😈

Hey SCV, are you gonna do this Again to your MMs? How about you stop shuffling around your cronies and start finding some people with competence? Start with a California- registered CPA.
Make it a Forensic CPA

Me either. How did that escape discussion on here?
If it is true, that certainly changes my outlook on Crown as an organization.
The rescinded Blue Devils contract made it on here but not the Crown contract. I would love to give Crown the benefit of the doubt for maybe not knowing his background

The scumbags as you put it are both kids and adults. It’s not the activity itself that has allowed it, imo, because the same thing happens in many many activities and geographies. What protects scumbags is anonymity, fear of reporting, lack of support and belief in reporters, retaliation and persecution of reporters or whistleblowers, followed by inaction.
Investigate reports more publicly, than when confirmed or proven, name names, identify bad actors, describe or otherwise name instances of bad behavior. Then people can be more aware and on the watch for similar warning signs. Unproven rumors enable plausible deniability and perpetuated instances. Exposure can help stop it.
The member behind the Spirit incident comes to mind. Their contract with BD was rescinded for ‘22 but Crown accepted them for ‘23. I find that reminiscent of religious organizations that shuffled abusers about

I would love to see a corps do a Jacques Demy/Michel Legrand inspired show . This is a jaunty tune with some fun riffs. The solfège section brings back music theory trauma but I can overlook it lol

I wonder who would teach the guard, since the last guard CH is not eligible.
Was that CH a member of Crown ca. 2008-10ish? Spill the tea

Shockingly predictable.
So he’s been a festering pos for close to four decades that he was director of the Cadets? I’m sickened by that.

Five separate counts, ten John Doe co-defendants. According to filing, Discovery has already taken place?

I would love to hear more about Blue Stars Japan audition camp. What connections the corps has to groups in Japan, shared staff, logistics, etc

This statement from their site is misleading. Typo perhaps?
Capital Regiment found quick success within Drum Corps International during it’s early seasons, breaking through to DCI World Class Finals for five straight seasons starting in 2002 and ranking as high as 14th in 2004.

Only professional marchers I am aware of is USMC D & BC. They are paid to march Drum Corps, and that makes them professional.
If you asked them their profession they would respond, Marine. 👍🏽

Brilliant!!! We shall call them “chaperones”. 😂 Believe me, I’ve had some former band parents that would keep every one in line. Some of them scared me…

Do DCI or any of the corps have a presence at Honda Battle of the Bands? Norfolk State University is my fave

Bluecoats had an HBCU scholarship fund I donated to. I don’t know if they still do. I haven’t gotten a request in a couple years.

From what I have heard, Pioneer’s funds were intermingled with the director’s personal funds. But that’s not important right now.
I’m confused. Why wouldn’t it be important right now?

Vanguard, Cadets, Spirit, Troopers, Madison, Pioneer, Legends... This stuff is really hard to manage and get things right.
We should be super appreciative of the smart folks at BDPA who have done things so well for so long (even if not always flawlessly).
(I actually shook my head a bit in disgust when I typed Pioneer.)
Pioneer is still running a bingo operation. I’m curious what they’re funding with the proceeds.
