Rapidfire Indoor Percussion’s First Rehearsal PHILADEPHIA, PA- November 16, 2009 Sunday, Rapidfire Percussion held its first rehearsal of the 2010 season in Cinnaminson, NJ, and had a fantastic turn out! There are still spots available for Rapidfire Percussion. It is not too late to apply. Go to www.rapidfirepercussion.net for more information. All are welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing you! Rapidfire Percussion is a co-ed independent indoor percussion ensemble affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America, as a Venturing Program. We are based out of Philadelphia, PA and comprised of young musicians and performers between the ages of 14-22. The ensemble's mission is to provide education and personal development of our members in the visual and performing arts locale. While always seeking performance excellence, the education and growth of the members are always paramount. We strive to develop members beyond music, imparting upon them skills that will prove beneficial in the facets of life beyond this activity. Understanding the importance of the surrounding community, we will engage in various community activities including parades, stand-still performances, as well as local social events.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Staff Announcements PHILADELPHIA, PA- October 29,2009 Rapidfire Indoor Percussion would like announce the return of Drill Designer Steve Kulp, Pit Arranger Dan Wierzbicki, and Battery Arranger Thomas Dunmore. We are please to announce that joining us for the 2010 season will be our new Front Ensemble Technician Tom Case and our Battery Ensemble Techs Jeff Bickford and Ahmed Gorham. Steve Kulp has written for many marching bands, indoor percussion ensembles and drum corps such as the Harrison Bushwackers and Jersey Surf. This is Steve's second season with Rapidfire and he is looking forward for another successful season with us. Dan Wierzbicki began his musical career at the age of 12. He attended Archbishop Ryan High School in NE Philadelphia and, upon graduation in 1991, joined Ryan's marching band staff as their mallet percussion tech and arranger. He then attended West Chester University as a music education major. During his tenure at WCU, Dan taught with a number of successful percussion programs, winning championships with Methacton, Upper Dublin, Archbishop Ryan, Souderton, Bensalem and Downingtown. Dan graduated with a B.S. in Music Education from WCU in 1995 and became a high school band director and conductor at several Philadelphia area high schools. Dan was also a member of the Bushwackers senior drum and bugle corps in 1999 and 2006 and served as principal percussionist in the Bucks County Symphony Orchestra and Musica 2000 Orchestra in the late 1990s. In 2001, Dan left music for the engineering field but returned in 2004 as a percussion judge in the Cavalcade of Bands circuit. In 2005, Dan became the Marching Band Director at his alma mater, Archbishop Ryan High School, leading them to 4th, 2nd and 6th place finishes during his three years there. 2009 is Dan's second season with Rapidfire Percussion, and he is proud to be a part of the ensemble's staff. Jeff Bickford started his marching career with the Franklin High School Warrior Marching Band. In 2003, at the age of fifteen, he joined a small division III corps called Spirit of Newark. He marched there for three years and in 2006 joined the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps. In 2007, Jeff found his home at the Boston Crusaders, marching there until his ageout in 2009. In the summer of 2008 and 2009, he was the section leader of the tenor line. During his drum corps career, he performed numerous times in the DCI individual multi-tenor competition placing as high as third in 2006 and 2007. Jeff was a member of United Percussion for 4 years (2005-2008) and will forever be known as "that guy who spun around". In 2009, he graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. in Physics and Computer Science. During his four years there, he was a member of the Scarlet Knight Marching Band and held the section leader position for three years. Currently, Jeff is a graduate student at Rutgers where he is studying computer science. He looks forward to working with Rapidfire this winter.   4. The 2-Time TIA Independent A Percussion Champions, Rapidfire Indoor Percussion is looking to expand for the 2010 season. We are looking to add positions throughout our entire instructional staff. Previous marching/teaching experience preferred. Must be able to attend all rehearsals and competitions.   10. Yeah this is definitely a shocker. I ran into him at the Bayonne Bridgemen show back in mid-June and as always that guy put a smile on my face after talking with him. He was someone who would always say hi no matter what corps you are with. I will definitely miss him and I will keep him and family in my thoughts and my prayers. Drum Corps has lost a great person! Rest In Peace my friend!

  13. Rapidfire Percussion will be starting its second season with a camp July 28th and 29th. We are making only ONE of the dates mandatory, but we recommend attending both if possible. The audition packets have been posted, as well as times for the first camp and directions to one of our practice facilities. See Audition Information below for more details. If you cannot make the first rehearsal in July, but are still interested in joining the program, please contact us!! Rapidfire Percussion's first camp is July 28th and July 29th, 12pm-6pm, location is John Perzel Community Center. We have the address and directions on our Directions Page.   14. Rapidfire Percussion, an Independent Indoor Percussion Ensemble based in Northeast Philadelphia, is holding Auditions July 28th and 29th, 2007. Auditions are open to anyone Ages 14-22.
