Is this like 2015 where BD won finals without wining a single regional?

BD technically “won” Allentown in 2015 by winning the Friday night show.

However, Crown took an eerily similar path in 2013 when they lost every regional to BD (including head-to-head on Saturday night of Allentown), then took Semis and Finals.

Wow! I missed that. You're right!

The record was held for a long long time by the 1988 Suncoast Sound with 89.10 -- that was their rather weird "Symphonic Dances for the Contemporary Child" show. (Back when it was unusual for a show to even have a title.)

Mandarins just eclipsed it with an 89.30.

More on Suncoast Sound's show here:

That show was way ahead of its time in terms of creativity.

  3. Bump.

New records set tonight for 12th place (Phantom Regiment, 87.238) and 10th place (Mandarins, 89.3).

Also, Bluecoats this year join an elite group of corps that placed 2nd and broke 98 (1999's tie for 1st notwithstanding): Phantom 1989, BD 2004 and BD 2008.

    Other records set yesterday included for 16th (Colts, 84.225), 17th (Madison Scouts, 82.137), 18th (Troopers, 81.663), 19th (Spartans, 80.35), 22nd (Gold, 77.1; tied with OC 2018), 23rd (Music City, 76.65) and 24th (Jersey Surf, 75.9).

    Looking at the recap.

Bluecoats actually chopped their visual deficit in half.  Way closer tonight.

Music was about where it was, though BD won percussion.

But BD closed the gap enough in GE to do it.  Just like 2015.  Their shows always come together on finals night like that.  Well deserved.

Had Stone traded Bloo and BD's GE scores, Bloo would have won.

Just an observation, as for the record, I truly wanted a tie.

  5. As I said before, I don't care about where Bloo ended up. They entertained the crowd unlike anyone else this season. And in the process, they set a new personal high score, beating out the previous record they set in their championship-winning 2016 show and tied just two days ago!

Congrats on an amazing 2019. This will be hard to top!
