...and The Cavaliers are officially in free fall toward seventh place.

I don’t think the top three is set in stone yet.
I think the top two are etched in granite.

This is far from my favorite production from Carolina Crown. It’s not nearly as exciting as 2016 but it’s way better than 2017.

I said BD/Bloo.
Not BD/Boston lol
That won’t happen either.

Not the strongest BD run I’ve seen. Wonder if we will see a BD/Bloo flip tonight?
No.

Usually I like the Bluecoats but this year I don’t. I know I’m in the minority but this year’s production doesn’t thrill me. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but I think there’s too much going on. It looks like a three ring circus to me, especially live, and I don’t care for the singing.

It’s amazing what NOT playing in a tin can can do for sound quality.

I have a dream in which designers en masse finally realize that this is not WGI, and tarps are not worth the hassle.
I want that dream! What do you eat before bedtime?

I loved Cavies show from the first time I saw it. But some of that has worn off. Oh, What a World was my favorite part of the show, but it doesn't seem as fun anymore especially to those performing it. Changing from all yellow flags to multi-colored in the closer looks messy as does the tarps when turned over.
I would use a piccolo trumpet to introduce the opening Bolero theme, can the singing and replace it with a brass choir, and clean up the ending.

Cavvies ensemble sound is awesome!
Outstanding news. Last night, um, not so much....

Okay, men! Whatever you do, do not play it safe and come out flat like last night! Let’s play with a little more reckless abandon; just trust yourselves and let it fly!

Both the brass and percussion writing is weak. Phantom's marching members deserve better than this.
Been there. Done that. (*Cough!* *1982 Cavaliers....*) It’s demoralizing to be given a rabid dog of a show and perform it knowing it sucks and won’t be competitive to win.

They need a better vehicle...
Oh yes. I remember Phantom in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Their hard core classical “vehicle” worked every year and it was always competitive.

Helmets or hoods, Phantom is one of the most special corps in all of DCI. Here’s hoping they improve.

Seeing the results from Atlanta last night, I wasn’t too surprised to see them slip into sixth, as much as it kills me to say that. Their closer changed just a little and I’m not sure if it’s for the better. I’m hoping it’s still a placeholder for what’s to come on August 11th. What do you guys think?
I think The Cavaliers are in temporary trouble. I love my alma mater corps but I think there’s a ceiling we’ve hit and can’t break through. Right now it doesn’t look good at all and I’ll see them live tomorrow night in Centerville. Maybe they’ll get back on the track to steady improvement.

She used to do the same thing to Madison when they were relevant. Maybe it’s the all male thing she doesn’t like.
I suspect that’s the case.

That was the difference between 5 and 6. Her axe is well-documented, see, eg. http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/index.php?/topic/147302-what-does-deborah-torchia-have-against-the-cavaliers/&page=2.
The Cavaliers had a bad run in Atlanta tonight. Let’s be honest. With that being said, Debbie doesn’t often reward a good run either.

Maybe, but reading through comments posted during the Cavaliers show, the consensus seemed to be they did but have their best performance. The judges may have gotten it right.
Absolutely. I’m not questioning the performance because it was terrible.

Then why in the hell is she still allowed to judge?
I could ask that question about half the judges!

As soon as I saw Torchia, Kuhn, Saucedo, and Phillips on the panel I knew it would be a rough scoring night for The Cavaliers.

Seventh. Our scores are going backwards especially in the Content category and that’s the kiss of death this late in the season. This is just like ‘81 all over again.
