A Bollywood show could be interesting....
I could see a designer try to use "Jaan Pehechan Ho" -- the one from Ghost World and later a Heineken ad (The Date).

Any insight into why the percussion score was so low at NightBEAT?

Finals has happened in Texas before but it was prior to the creation of DCI. One of the worst experiences of my life. I think it was 325 on the field - or at least felt like it in wool/cotton long-sleeve cadets, black pants, and dress oxfords.
1991 Finals were in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

OK, I'm old but not entirely senile. Did somebody from BD find an old piece of football tarp and say, let's see how much mileage we can get out of this? I don't understand the significance. If one of you young bloods could explain the tarp to me, I would appreciate it. Are they seeing how gullible people are, or is there a reason for using it?
I'm going with used IKEA bag...

Here's a link to the real narration in "Taming The Dragon"
Perhaps the Bluecoats' design team will make the narrative more "spicy" by using the words, mo-f-r, s--t and d-bag?

I believe it is simply a scheduling conflict with the Mercedes-Benz stadium. A similar situation occurred in 2017 when the venue was not ready in time to host DCI and the event was moved to McEchern High School in the suburbs. It could have been financial as rental for that facility must be astronomical, and DCI is coming off two years of historically low revenue. However, the Atlanta show has for years been the second-best attended show of the entire tour - second only to Finals. It's importance on the tour cannot be overstated as the majority of attendees are high school band kids, many of whom may one day audition for a corps. It's a recruiting tool, not to mention a bonanza for souvie sales. It's a justified investment, and I'd be shocked if it weren't back at Mercedes-Benz next year.

The tickets for the Luke Combs concert went on sale last November and my understanding was that it sold out quickly.
The CMA "entertainer of the year" is definitely a bigger draw in Atlanta than DCI could ever hope to be.
With these two concurrent events in close proximity, parking and traffic will be a nightmare.
My stereotype of the average country music fan attending this concert has them traveling in some big ### "carnival truck" needing parking, not coming via MARTA.

Sounds like they took a facility and made it into a nice midsize football stadium. The capacity is like a bit less than 25,000. Can't wait to see what it looks like this weekend. I'm glad they didn't just tear it down to make some mall or something un-interesting.
Since it's a converted baseball stadium, I'd suspect that concert side isn't exactly parallel to how the field lies.
Makes for some interesting sight lines.

Good lord close this thread. dude was at an event as a spectator and y’all are coming at him with pitch forks ready to burn him at the stake.
“You know man, the only way I'm gonna put something out there like that, is if I'm ready to dance with that cat.
You know what I mean?
You put something out there and there's consequences, you know?
All you got are your actions man, and remember, words are actions too, you wanna dance with that dude?”

Maybe 3rd time's the charm -- who is doing the narration? (Forgive my senior moment if it's obvious to everyone but me.)
Probably some random voice actor

recently had a dream and a character showed up: drum corps guy
he was really tall and in a drum corps costume, kind of like someone at comic-con or a parade or something
everyone seemed to know who he was, but i was confused as to who he was
but thought to myself, in the dream, maybe this guy in my spirit group and is why i am enjoy drum corps so much?
Did he look like Lou Reed slash Dennis Hopper?

Script for “Riffs and Revelations”
I had this trippy dream where this cat was driving me around in an old convertible.
Later on it turned into a VW van and near the end it was more like this spaceship kind of thing
We were high up looking over the road but the front console was shaped like a van and it still had the convertible top
The guy who was driving me around was an older dude, an old hipster with a weathered voice, kind of like Lou Reed’s
After trombone solo –
He kind of had some of that vibe and energy of Dennis Hopper in Easy Rider
Yeah, like if you could imagine a cross between Lou Reed and Dennis Hopper, that's the dude who was driving
After opener/contra solo –
We were heading due north coming up to a stop light.
The light was beautiful in the dream, with all that nice washed-out orange from the pollution.
I had this happy feeling in my stomach but also like this scared feeling like something was gonna happen but I didn't know what.
Anyhow as we approached the light all of a sudden this cat in a sports car came out of nowhere and just cut us off
My man slammed on the brakes and narrowly averted a mash-up, got my blood boiling but I wasn’t the one driving
After car wheels thing –
Yeah, so wouldn’t you know it, we pulled right up behind that cat at the light and there he was glaring at us through his rear view
He was all like “Yeah that’s right I cut you off, what are you gonna do about it?”
So I said to Lou Reed/Dennis Hopper (I'll just call him Lou now), Man, aren’t you gonna say something to that guy?
But Lou just looked straight ahead and said,
“You know man, the only way I'm gonna put something out there like that, is if I'm ready to dance with that cat. You know what I mean?
You put something out there and there's consequences, you know?
All you got are your actions man, and remember, words are actions too, you wanna dance with that dude?”
KEYTAR SOLO!
You know, now I realize that Lou was driving me around and I wasn’t even thanking him.
At first I thought he was kind of a bad influence, but actually he was taking care of me, watching my back, talking me down from something.
It’s funny how sometimes in dreams, you don’t realize who’s your friend. Looking back maybe all these different people were you in your dreams. And they’re there to lead you to either good or trouble.
Yeah, but maybe like that crazy dude in the other car was me as well. Like you got this one part of you that watches out for you, keeps you steady, and this other part that's raging, full of anger. Like old Lou and the crazy dude in the dream, they're all a part of you.
Crowd: “BLOO!”
You know, I think of it like taming a dragon. The dragon is the crazy dude, and if you don’t watch out he’ll bite you hard.
You see Lou knows about the dragon, he’s there to set you straight.
You don’t try to kill the dragon, you wanna make friends with it, harness its powers so you can use them.
But I only realized that when I woke up.

Another reason to hate country music
I think it's a blessing Cadets are bypassing Atlanta this weekend.
Having two simultaneous events at venues about a mile-and-a-half apart seem to be ingredients for a total traffic #### stew.
And not to mention the 10-day Atlanta weather forecast predicts a greater than 50% chance of thunderstorms.

Any reason they aren't doing Atlanta?
Since Luke Combs will be the headline attraction at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 30, the DCI Southeastern Regional was moved to the Georgia State football stadium (reconfigured Turner Field/Centennial Olympic Stadium).
DCI decided to have the 2019 Top Six corps (Blue Devils, Bluecoats, Boston Crusaders, Carolina Crown, Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vanguard) appear at both the Southeastern Championship on Saturday, July 30 and NightBEAT in Winston-Salem on Sunday, July 31.
All the other competing corps were assigned to one or the other show, not both:
Atlanta 7/30: The Academy, Blue Stars, Genesis, Gold, Madison Scouts, Mandarins, Music City, Phantom Regiment,
Winston-Salem 7/31: Blue Knights, The Cadets, Colts, Crossmen, Jersey Surf, Pacific Crest, Troopers

I wonder how many Corps are doing the show they had planned for 2020 vs those that started fresh after last year’s exhibition seo?
Rear View Mirror was the Cadets show originally planned for the 2020 season.
