I'm comparing how hypocritical it sounds to say "Its none of anyone's business what is happening behind the scenes" when people chose to wildly speculate, gossip and post outright lies about that situation, and now it's not even OK to wonder aloud what may be going on or why there is little info coming out from the org. I would think the other situation would have warranted a lot less public questioning. I don't recall anyone ever saying "Have you reached out to the board" when people asked about GH stories and rumors.

On your points about savings:
#1 I was told the savings for payroll was closer to $400,000
#2 Don't know if this amounts to much when they are doing a 6 week pre-season camp when most other corps are in the 4-5 week range. They still will be paying for food and housing but will not receive performance fees for that 1-2 week period. Then you have to add in the week of inactivity with again no performance fees in July.
As for #3 I think the loss of C2 hurt more from a level of training and talent on the field than any financial savings that may be realized.
Re. props I agree the $60K was a waste of $$$ as the props size and the awkward handling them during the show was a MAJOR distraction. Hopefullly by doing this in house it will decrease the size and the cost of props
If you're referring to the first week in July, the corps will be rehearsing in Dartmouth and then performing in two of the largest July 4th parades in New England (Bristol RI and Wakefield MA) for which I would expect they will receive performance revenue.
The alternative would've been to follow the tour down to Orlando. On the surface, this decision not to travel south seems like a prudent financial one.

I think I just addressed this well in my above post. Asking questions is not "throwing shade." That's an unfair assessment and assumes a lot without knowing facts. It's personal, which is something that is usually frowned upon here. A little consistency, maybe?
Since no one bothered to ask - I don't in any way have negative feelings or ill-wishes for The Cadets. I'm certainly not saying anything derogatory about them. On the contrary, I am concerned about the odd lack of public comment from the actual org, and want to be reassured that everything is OK on ALL levels, not just the rehearsal/performance parts. I think that is a legitimate thing to worry about given we have seen before that all is not always as it seems.
Was there this much opposition to people asking questions about GH when the accusations were flying about? I don't recall people saying "there is no reason to talk about any of that because no one here has the answers?" Nope. Lots of people asked lots of tough questions and unfortunately, some bad things came to light. Hopefully there is nothing but good news yet to come about The Cadets. But I should not be chastised for asking thought-provoking questions.

Senseless? Is it not OK to point out the types of questions that should be asked? There seems to be a lot of people who are "in the know" about all things Cadets. They are making bold statements about the health of the corps and the org. It should be OK to say "is anyone else thinking about these things?" And who knows? Maybe someone who DOES have those answers would get wind of this discussion and decide they should publicly address them. It's happened before. Kathy Black's video interview of late comes to mind. No one here knew the answers about how and why the "any instruments" proposal came about and a LOT of people on here made unsubstantiated claims. There's no doubt she felt compelled to respond to the rising tide of questions.
Sorry, not sorry. If it's OK for someone to say "I saw a rehearsal and everything is good" it is equally OK to day "I haven't seen any evidence of what the operational structure is so I believe there may be cause for concern." We are just opining on what we have observed. If it leads to a broader discussion and results in a more "official" statement or two coming out, then it is worth discussing. Otherwise, what exactly is the forum even here for?

I honestly don’t find much of this very amusing. Last year they ran the corps all over the country and got little practice time. Fortunately they’re making some great changes. That corps caravan got back to Allentown last August with a boat load of issues and loose ends. I’m so glad they are taking a more conservative approach. I’m more concerned that the members love their show, have a terrific design and instruction, great big standing Os. Safe travel, nice housing and rehearsal facilities (also not always the case last year) and they become “cadets clean” - haven’t seen that in quite a while.
I’m excited!

What hotel(s) are within walking distance of Ford Field in Detroit? I already booked St.Louis. Just trying to to get ahead of this. Thanks!
Greektown Casino would be the closest.
As a former Detroiter, I'd consider staying in Windsor and taking the Tunnel Bus.

That’s a long time without a show. I wonder if that’s a mistake.
Seems like they are shortening the tour (skipping Premiere in Detroit) to stay close to home, likely perform in July 4th parades (Tour de Jerséy?) and save money.
For all intents and purposes, The Cadets aren't going on tour until July 9th.
Then they'll be in 15 shows before Indy, similar to the number of performances for all other WC corps.

Number of scheduled performances before 7/9 -- interesting to see how they will be scored out of the gate. This leaves no room for error on design.

2015 Blue Devils (Ink) -- At the time, I was unfamiliar with Into The Woods. Now having seen multiple productions, I have a much greater appreciation for this show and see why it bested Inferno.

I was also disappointed to see not a word of thanks for the departing staff. Whatever their flaws, they kept the group alive and in finals through an existential crisis. There was always a gracelessness to Cadets' handling of staff under GH, I had hoped that would improve under new administration.
Yep. Par for the course.
When YEA disbanded C2 last November, Doug Rutherford's announcement was all about "survival of the Cadets" with no acknowledgement given or appreciation shown to C2 members, staff and volunteers.

Well, I think the parents next to me (1) were tired after a very long day and (2) had some definite anti-Cabs bias.
(During the competition, they were texting a friend about how they couldn't understand why the Cabs were ahead of the Sabers.)
If they were texting during the show, then they must not have AT&T or T-Mobile, because that stadium is a dead zone for anyone with those carriers :)

So many shows to like!
1 - Force of Nature. While another corps named Vanguard has medaled every year since, I still miss this Vanguard.
2 - Rach Star -- still the best timed Crocker introduction and a standing ovation on the opening hit
3 - 12.25 - have always liked this show and without this show we never get the I KNOW YOU/HIM meme with Buddy the Elf
4 - The Power of 10 - liked this show but never understood the need for the switch to the black uniforms
5 - Beneath The Surface - ballad and Bucimis
6 - Scheherazade - best use of trombones that season
7 - Beast - just ok
8 - Les Miserables -- Cadets 1989 was better
9 - Men Are From Mars - meh
10 - A Second Chance - never saw this
