  1. That line goes right up there with Gen. George A. Custer saying, "Dont worry...those look like friendly indians" right before the Battle of Little Big Horn.
  2. I cut it off at 20 corps. No slight meant to anyone. I just wasnt bored anymore.
  3. I'm about 98% certain Cabs took brass in both 84 & 85 84 finals is the only show we didnt take best percussion for the 2 year stretch from 84-85. Bucs were a machine that night and we left it down by the lake.
  4. When I was on staff at Cabs in 2002, the first day I was there I walked a few new kids over to the main trophy case. I pointed out the Championship trophies from 84 & 85 and the high percussion trophy from 85. I said, "See these trophies??? These are mine." I then took them about 10 feet to the left and pointed out some of the hardware from the early 60's and said, "You see those over there??? Those are my fathers" While they stared open mouthed, I said to them, "Everything we do from here on is toward getting you yours." It took a year longer than I'd hoped, but they got theirs. There is MAD drum corps juju in that room.
  5. I do know you, Chris...and I like you. This isnt personal. We're friends. You stated your opinion. Thats fine. You have every right to do that. I'm not even saying you're wrong. Perhaps you are right. But unless you have the rosters of every other drum corps thats ever taken the field and can conclusively prove that "man for man" the 2002 Brigadiers were more talented than any other drum corps ever, then it is NOT fact. It remains your opinion and remains open to dispute. That doesnt mean you cant say it. You can and you should and I'll defend your right to your opinion every time. There's nothing wrong with carrying this dialogue out further if you want to. Like I said, we're friends. We could be having this same conversation over a cooler in the parking lot after a show. But like you said to me.....you know me, Chris. I say what I see, and this is what I saw in your posts.
  6. Interestingly in relation to the claim of "greatest", this was NOT and undefeated corps. They took losses to Bucs, Sky and Sunrisers during the season.
  7. There is no possible way anyone can make a claim to being the best single corps in the history of the activity. It's your opinion and belief that the '02 Brigs were that, and thats absolutely fine. But its completely arguable and its an open ended argument as there is no way to have a "showdown" between all the possible contenders. Personally, the 1985 Cabs were the best single corps ever in my opinion. That corps was a wrecking machine. My dad would probably pick a Skyliners corps from the late 50's. That's his opinion. See the dilema here? Pride in your personal accomplishments is great, and you should definitely be proud to have been a part of that corps. But your claim is not provable in any way.
  8. Fixed the original to include Steel City. I may have subconciously left them out as an act of revenge for handing me my first ever DCA loss in 1986 after starting my career with 2 undefeated season at Hawthorne.
  9. Cant believe I missed them. I'll fix it when I get home.
  10. I was bored this afternoon. This is based purely upon average placement at DCA Championships (prelims & finals) throughout the years. Minimum of 7 DCA Championship appearances. I chose that # so current corps like Corpsvets and Renegades could be included. It didnt seem fair to include corps with less than that. For example.....Inspires and Phoenix both placed highly in their appearances but only competed 2 times each. And off we go..... (Rank, corps name, average placement, # of appearances) 1) Caballeros 2.89 (43) 2) Empire Statesmen 3.19 (26) 3) Bushwackers 4.30 (27) 4) Buccaneers 4.36 (44) 5) Brigadiers 5.26 (23) 6) Sunrisers 5.89 (35) T7) Hurricanes 6.00 (44) T7) Skyliners 6.00 (39) 9) Yankee Rebels 6.46 (13) 10) Crusaders 7.54 (41) 11) Renegades 7.86 (7) 12) Mn Brass 8.19 (27) 13) Matadors 8.25 (16) 14) Steel City 8.33 (12) 15) Westshoremen 8.80 (30) 16) Corpsvets 9.29 (7) 17) Grenadiers 9.64 (11) 18) Hamburg Kingsmen 10.13 (8) T19)Erie Thunderbirds 10.75 (12) T19)Pittsburgh Rockets 10.75 (8) Anyone suprised at any of this???
  11. Ok....I'm back for a minute...... Guys, I know Jerald and consider him a friend. He's a wonderful guy and he "gets it" about where todays drum corps came from. There's no possible way the Jerald I know and like would take a shot at the alumni. I can see how it might have looked that way, but I truly think he was just trying to make a point and it was taken out of context. There's plenty of stuff to get coo-coo over on this subject. Maybe lets not make this a part of that? ps.....Ponzo, I need your email address. It's about another matter entirely. I'm at glen.hazelwood@gmail.com Thanks, bro. Love ya. :) I'm gone again ***whoosh***
