Phantom should do “Death in Venice” but call it “Death in Indianapolis” featuring Will Pitts
Crossmen ...Rammstein
Mandarins...do a DCI version of Renegades 2004 show “Good Bye Blue Skies”
Cadets...Copland’s Dance Symphony
Blue Stars...bring the board game Mouse Trap to the field
Blue Knights..PG: Music of Percy Grainger and Phillip Glass
Boston...Candide
Cavaliers...Fight Club
Crown...Hungarian Rhapsody #2
Santa Clara Vanguard ...John Adam’s Harmonium
Bluecoats...double down on their current direction and do Maynard Ferguson’s Live at Jimmy’s albom
Blue Devils...Stan Kenton’s Adventures in Time
-
With the current usage of synth and vocal samplings I would really love to see SCV or Crown pull off John Adam's Harmonium...nothing else. That could be an amazing show.
-
Bluecoats yes...GE judges were unwilling to make the separation there should have been between the two Blue team. Crown no....great performance only finals but knew there was little chance because of the large gaps in visual analysis and guard.

Most of George’s survivors marched for years or worked around him for years after what happened to them. So many survivors stay around their abusers for years, PTSD. Or not.
Stockholm Syndrome sounds applicable here.

Don’t care about their concept but I will make a donation to the Spartans if their opening set is an asterisk....

Before scores are announced the Damp Otter and Sparties DM should have a game of Rochambeau with the DM kicking first.

BD..super clean and the first time I actually felt the closer worked. Did not see BAC but I feel the Zingali is your. That being said...last night was a bit more exciting. It will come down to GE tonight.

Highly disagree
put down that crack pipe you should...

Crown may win the Ott trophy but that was the best brass run on the night without even seeing Bloo or BD.

Holy sh!t was that mixed meter section clean Vanguard!

Crown...musically that was an awesome run. Guard looked like their best run. There were a lot of uncharacteristic interval issues in the brass throughout the first half the show. Nice side shot at the end of a baritone pulling the horn away from his face due to more interval issues...oops.
Awesome run overall but I still can't help but think how much better you would be scoring if the guard truly popped out from the rest of the ensemble...this has been a major and consistent design flaw from at least 2009.

Was it me or did the brass and vocal patch not start at the same time?

I think just the opposite. I thought BD was off and left the door open for Bloo to open a gap in the scoring. Interesting. Who knows?
I sure don't.
My viewing...that was the cleanest visual run I have ever seen from Bloo. Musically we know they will get beaten in performance captions but they were a polished machine tonight. GE and M.A should be rewarded.

They have 90% of an INCREDIBLE show.
That closer just loses me any time. That melody makes it impossible to sustain any kind of momentum or effect. Absolutely love the rest of the show.

Ugly upper trumpet blip at the impact in the ballad is going to hurt....was a flawless build up to that.

That was a scary good run from SCV no matter what you think of that show. Percussion is on their on planet this year. Moments of that brass book are just not cleanable with their aggressive approach. Guard is elite but just does not translate as well as BD or BAC. Yeah the "drill" is slower but they are doing movement like no one else. Probably the first corp in DCI history where the guard has to borrow eye liner for the brass.

Totally disagree. I've had my criticisms of Klesch's books in the past for various reasons but I love this one
No...it does have that recycled Cirque vibe.

Next on the field is the Cadets from Allentown, Pennsylvania. Here is their 2019 program information, courtesy of Drum Corps Xperience:
Behold
Fanfare for the Women by Libby Larson
Just by David Lang
Blueprint by Caroline Shaw
Dance 1 (from the Estancia Orchestral Suite) by Alberto Ginastera
Bridge Over Troubled Water by Paul Simon
Do Better by Tom Aungst | Omar Carmenates | Brandon Carrita
Symphony No. 4 (Finale) by David MaslankaThey should have called this show “That’s What She Said...” it would make just as much sense.

Two thoughts, questions really:
1. Do Spartans have enough time before their second run tonight to change their final set to an asterisk?
2. Do the Spartans wanna be that petty?
it would be epic but yeah...probably a bit much. Take the high road Spartans.I’d rather see them spell out “Damp Otter”

It is, indeed, the Year of the Mello Sustain. Thanks, SCV.
Too bad they are not sustaining the pitch all the way to the release. Other comment about Genesis is the balance between amped small ensemble voices, pit, and recorded voiceovers...maybe a Flo issue but the small ensembles should be the focus and they are the last thing you can hear...extremely distracting.

I get a sense that Brandt Crocker doesn't care for single syllable corps names. He could so "welcome to the field, Gooooooooooollllllllrrr4rrrrrdghhcfghhddddd!" But instead chooses "Gold."
Think of Brandt as the Ron Burgundy of drum corps.

Gold has a very bright future if they continue this path! Wonderful job this season.

I will be sad if #2 is true...that hornline has been a monster the last few years. That being said I am sure there is other talent waiting in the wings to step up.
