Other corps at the time had it even worse. Look at Magic of Orlando.
I worked with a corps that had a former member of Magic. Told us their last year, they would have to pick maggots and bugs out of the rice etc before they prepared it.

So, I don't think it's cool to take potshots at RB. Say what you will, but he has pushed for positive things in the activity, and stayed IN the activity when a lot of other people would have gotten up and left. As a human who (ill-advised or not) worked tirelessly for drum corps, he still deserves some respect. None of his alleged wrongdoings were malicious (to my knowledge, no one has accused him of sexual assault or hitting/screaming at kids).
I wish the Pioneer alumni a great reunion!!
I've also witnessed events that lead me to believe he should not be running youth organizations anymore. He means well I'm sure, but really should not be involved in the capacity he holds onto. That's not just my opinion - DCI had a similar opinion.
It is absolutely correct to discuss whether he should be administrating startup groups in WGI.
hahahaha not malicious? He didn't feed kids. He didn't provide working buses. ETC. GTFOH.

I very much enjoyed the small performances between corps at the Indy celebration. I would be interested to see something like that continued.

I’m not sure why first hand knowledge is needed to name the corps if it isn’t needed to accuse them of doing it at that corps. But perhaps you meant to just say you heard they did it again there.
Are they not still at that next corps? Are they not still at that high school? It seems like we should be concerned about their presence there for sure if they are, and maybe even if they are not.
Dear glob, you're one of those.

If the job was mine Phantom would be the first corps to sit the 2022 season out, along with a few with others.
The entire activity should be sitting the season out. and houses need to be cleaned.

Is there a reason you don’t name the next corps?
I have first hand knowledge from crown. Not from the second corps. Only what I was told. The person at crown admitted to it in a conversation in which I was involved.

Its easy to become angry and upset at these horrible things that are coming out. I know I am.
But let's keep in mind that there are corps (the great majority, I believe) that are clean and healthy, that do serve the community as intended.
I'm struggling to think of one I haven't heard something like this about.

It looks like someone from crown recently came out with an allegation against crown. This just keeps getting worse and worse
not the instance I'm speaking of, but I'm glad it is starting. The abuser in the situation I know of was a staff member.

It would be a punch to the gut to learn the home corps is part of this too…but if it happened, I hope it all comes to light.
I want every single person involved in the act and/or the cover up to be permanently banned from the activity. I don’t care how big the name. This **** is NOT ok and it needs to stop YESTERDAY or the activity we all love will die a painful death.
They did it at crown then again at the next corps and high school they worked at. This person simply moved again and is working in another state.

My question is could DCI restructure the age limits for open & work class to help off set these vast age differences? Open Class 14-17 with 'high school" style oversight & world class 18-22 college age students? I forget the age limits for open class but it could be used as a 'feeder' format for world class? (I realize that it's already being used for that purpose but just speculating.)
I agree with this 100%

I'm waiting on some stuff from Crown to pop up. A few years ago it was pretty bad there as well.

Maybe that would be good. I would think Varsity would have the intestinal fortitude to actually penalize or disqualify a Corps that allows members to be repeatedly assaulted.
You may want to look up how well that has gone for cheerleading...

Perhaps the staff member should be called by a new name.

Good they are working on it but….
1) why post names? People in the corps might know who did what but this is basically in the open.
2) wth is it with using the word “drag” and putting it in quotes to draw even more attention to it?
I thought the same thing. If they have no tangible proof, that was a brave move. I had heard about this but assumed the corps had settled it because it hadn't hit the "news". I guess they didn't.
And they meant drag in the slang term. Pretty sure that is why it was put in quotes.
Also want to point out MAASIN has already had its own trouble. Just had a member arrested for domestic violence. It is discussed on their blog if you're interested in reading.

Honest question - as someone who Knew People, what did you do to fix it in 30 years?
Trust. Plenty of people said things. Many people did not care. Just like with every other "instructor" or "director" that has been successful.

I know of one instructor, tried to force himself on a marching member. Was switched to another corps, where he was caught messing around with a high school student and now is at another school. He has been accused in South Carolina, North Carolina, Massachusetts and now Texas. This is why I am now a fan of one bad apple? Throw out the ENTIRE batch.

Whether someone has a problem with the logo change or not, doesn't change the fact that it is cancel culture.
Does anyone know if the alumni were asked about this ?
Also,what happens to Bone's uniform ?
Guess the Scouts are next.
New name and uniform to remove any taint from the BSA.
I know alumni that have been abused both verbally and physically when their corps necklace was noticed. So yeah, I'm sure alumni were in the "know".

I marched DCA, and the brass caption head was like barely 20 if even that. He was plastered before we made it back to the busses after competing in prelims. He went on to march a top 5 corps his age out year, and is currently a high ranking staff member on a regularly finalist DCI corps. No clue if he cleaned up.
