Perhaps you are right.  She used all the millions from her DCI video watching to buy florescent lime-green nail polish so we could track the movement of her hands as she reacts to various shows.   It makes her reactions more effective.

But that is what I see as during University I thoroughly studied the use of visible nail polish when reacting to videos.

Some would say I am a specialist in the same way there are body language specialists.

Cool story bro. Maybe if you had paid attention at University, you'd know how making and running a YouTube channel worked. I'd say you're more special than a specialist.

  2. I've served on panels with a gentleman from Florida that was forced to retire as a principal after students he hypnotized committed suicide. List like this do not always work. He was warned multiple times to stop doing it by upper administration and was not licensed at all(however that works). He was still allowed to retire with benefits and has been allowed to continue judging winter guard and marching band. This isn't "directly" related but with enough "fame" or money, it's easy to avoid lists like this.

  3. BDPA and USBands Establish Nationwide Pageantry Arts Network

Investment in 2020 sets the foundation for year-round participation in the pageantry arts

During these uncertain times, the continuation and relevance of scholastic music is more important than ever. BD Performing Arts (BDPA) and USBands have announced a significant investment in the future of the marching arts, through the end of 2020 and beyond, to provide rewarding and fulfilling experiences for talented young people in the activity.

The creation of this new nationwide music network is the first step toward serving educators and students year-round while preserving the educational community’s standards, traditions and culture in each region. Through this ground-breaking arrangement, BDPA now adds the management and operation of USBands to its existing roster of scholastic marching arts groups, national educational events, and the Western Band Association.

“We’re investing in the pageantry arts today by providing world class services for 2020 and looking ahead to an exciting future of growth and expansion for the activity,” said Shaun Gallant, CEO of BDPA. “We understand the importance of music education in the development of young people, and now more than ever are committed to providing top quality experiences and education for student performers across the country.”

USBands will remain under the leadership of Executive Director, Sean King, with Eric Kitchenman and Virginia Kraft serving in the areas of adjudicator and ensemble relations. Members of the BDPA team will provide vital administrative assistance with events and innovative technology solutions, and USBands operations will rely upon an active Advisory Board led by volunteers with decades of experience including Matt Chamberlin, Jon Swengler and Kevin White. Additional members of the USBands Advisory Board will be announced shortly, and will represent educators, academia, adjudicators, parents, and students. Separate Task Forces and Steering Committees for each of the USBands stakeholder groups will be established this fall.

"Our vision has been to develop a network for the pageantry arts that creates an environment of excellence and inclusiveness,” said Sean King, Executive Director of USBands. “Building upon three decades of commitment to our participating schools and students, this investment is the realization of that vision having found a like-minded partner in BDPA that also shares in that goal.”

USBands will continue to be sponsored by their trusted and loyal partners including the Yamaha Corporation of America, DeMoulin Bros. & Co., Zildjian & Vic Firth, Remo Inc., the BAND Mobile App, FloMarching and PepWear.

For more information on USBands and the new nationwide pageantry arts network, please visit usbands.org or follow USBands on social media at facebook.com/usbands.

Oh, sure one can.  Cheer is dangerous.  Kids do dumb things.  Adults do dumber things.  There's risk in chasing a desire to be great.

Varsity isn't the cause of all evil in the cheer world, and one can't possibly deny the laser-like vision of the founders, and even that of the second buyers!, have made them the force we're, apparently, afraid of today.

I don't have a dog in the fight beyond drum corps, but I don't see Flo offering this kind of exposure to drum corps' participant demo even if Flo might appeal to some who want to watch sports on the same subscription.

I'm not even thinking about the risk of danger associated with cheerleading. I'm talking about being required to use certain hotels, only being able to compete at their shows(they'll DQ for going to other competitions) being required to wear their uniforms, bows, warm ups etc. This is only the tip of the iceberg. Varsity will not allow corps to host their own shows, produce their own merchandise, etc. Not to mention "scholastic sound sport" is a direct attack on WGI. WGI already offers "winter marching band".

Can I just use a play on your words?  (And I appreciate your input, BTW, even if I think you might be at least premature or, at most, just wrong in the opinon):

Word mix:  "Varsity is only concerned about one thing: money.  And their experience might help DCI stop acting like fools with theirs."

Varsity might provide a platform for growth that, even shared with them, would help DCI build for a future of growth instead of one of consolidation.

    Sounds crazy.  Might work.

I guess the majority of the people that have been forced to work with varsity are wrong. You can't possibly have read all the terrible things about them and still think it's a good idea.

Is it possible for you to relay the gist of what was posted without violating the myriad of DCP rules?

Accusations were made against two active members of the DCI world, one a percussionist/one a composer(they have many roles, just naming the most familiar). A few comments were made in support of the poster. Neither accuser has responded publicly, of that I am aware.

And what, pray tell, could that "something" short term be?  Unless DCI is willing to actually sell the brand to Varsity, then the benefit to DCI would be any up-front payments (based on something) plus national exposure layered on top of marketing to the exact age demo.

I thought of this while (literally) in the shower this morning:  Varsity knows about cheer, and books, and selling outfits but what do they know about MUSIC?

Does Varsity need to know and understand music in order to make a partnership (sale/agreement) a good one?  I'm pretty sure Varsity doesn't want to deal with 40 drum corps in two brackets individually so, SONOFAGUN!, they're dealing with The Brand, DCI itself.

Could Varsity actually be the "Unbiased" decision-maker that could force the member corps to accept something "less" short-term in order to get something "more" long-term?  Would forcing them to have music experience/understanding be diluting any potential benefit from that arms-length management structure?

Varsity only cares about one thing, money. And DCI is being a fool.

I was thinking raw footage may be the only way of maybe seeing it. In that case, it’s probably well hidden. Maybe even destroyed. It was probably super easy to make video disappear forever back then since nothing was digital.

I’ve heard this story told a million times over the years so I’ve been looking for this footage for a long time myself. Good luck, lol.

    This?

  9. Bruh you know how to google. I'm not wasting time in a pointless debate. Keep believing what you want to believe. Hopefully you and any elderly you know aren't affected by it. If they are I'm sure your "it's not a big deal" mentality will help them recover fully.

Yep; I wasn't saying he was innocent.  I was just playing "devil's advocate".  I like playing the devil's...advocate.  I'm thinking in his mind & with his ego, he wouldn't take the plea deal.  And if you are truly innocent, why would you take a plea deal.  Just thinking out loud... 😗😷  Well, gotta go stock up on Germ-x, Ramen Noodles, & toilet paper.

Innocent people take deals all the time. But again, he isn't innocent.
