  1. I love how saying a score will drop is hate. Get off your high horse. What happened to phantom when they came to the Midwest and competed against more groups? It's not hate it's called competition. No competition judges can't lower your score. That's common sense and we see this all the time but no go ahead and say it's hate.

Well good morning to you too!! Wasn't aware i had a horse. But if i did i want the talking horse in the Directv commercial's with Hannah. Actually screw the horse just give me Hannah!! Anyways both BK and PR will be fine. BK is going to be the next corps to break into the top tier. They have been gaining alot of momentum and they are on their way. I am calling it now........BK will have a top five finish by 2018. As for PR, i am not worried about them as they are gonna be ok as well. Phantom is known for late season surges. I said this in another thread.........As a diehard Blue Devils fan, i have learned to never doubt Phantom. Cause when you do, they will catch you and beat you. For BD fans 96, 06, and 08 come to mind.

  2. Please don't misunderstand me, I don't think BK is an 11th place corps...even when they WERE an 11th place corps. I was commenting on why some people don't have good things to say about BK.

But I somewhat agree with you, DrumManTX...except I'm not counting out a whole slew of other corps. SCV, Cavies, PR, BAC...heck, Crossmen and Blue Stars have the ability to compete with anyone in the 6-10 range. This dogfight isn't over by a long shot.

You are right about it not being over. All those corps you mentioned are amazing and this is gonna be a epic battle to the end.

  3. In spite of BK's accomplishments the past couple of years, there will always be those who believe they are an 11th place Corps.

Well i respect your opinion, but seeing them live in Pasadena and Riverside last month, BK is not a 11th place corps. And i say that with all due respect to past and present corps who have finished 11th. BK is on their way up and i will not be the least surprised to see them crack the top five in the next few years.

  4. I have expressed the very same sentiments on here before.

We rarely, if ever, encounter personal attacks on DCI marchers here... or anywhere else. Most, if not all, criticisms are reserved almost entirely toward adults in some capacity.. be in staff of Corps, or DCI HQ staff.

College amateur athletes, many just 18-22, are subjected almost daily to some of the most vile, vitriolic, hateful fan behaviors one can imagine. This personal assault comes from students of other colleges and universities, but it also can be routinely witnessed coming from adults towards these athletes, and they should know better. Athletes on the road in particular are subjected to boos, catcalls, profanity, etc from the moment the team busses arrive at the stadium for competition and they depart from the busses. Its not confined to team either... the verbal assaults can be personal, and name directed oftentimes. Most coa hes properly prepare their 18-22 year olders for these routine expected experiences, and most as a result are able to shrug or chuckle it off, and stay focused on whats at hand.

That is very true. But let me tell you it happens at the high school level as well. I played football at Long Beach Poly High in SoCal. We are a national powerhouse in football. In fact we have sent more players to the NFL than any other high school in the country. I was a three year varsity starter from 93-95 when we was ranked no lower than #7 in the country. I wish you could have seen the hateful behavior and verbal assaults that came our way. This was obviously before Facebook and other social media outlets, so back then opposing fans would somehow get your home phone number. My mom had to change our home number numerous times cause of opposing fans and students calling and saying inappropriate things at all times of the day/night. Our buses would get eggs and rotten fish thrown at on road games, during pregame warm ups our mothers was called everything in the book etc. It was bad. And we was 15-17 years old lol. But we had a huge target on our backs being one of the top teams in the nation. So I can relate to what I see BD go thru here on DCP sometimes. When you are at the top of the mountain and you stay there cause you figured out the winning formula, people want to see you get knocked down. But we never let it stop us. If anything we let the hatred fuel us. We thrived on it. You hate us......we are gonna beat your school by six touchdowns and really give you a reason to hate us. That was our mentality. Never once did we let it get to us. And again we was a lot younger than these amazing World Class DCI performers.

  5. I have never heard of this judge. Is he one of the many new ones? If so, how is a new judge assigned to a show like this where possibly the top three lines are

    head to head?

People on this forum have been screaming forever we need new judges. Now we get one (saying he is new) and we are still complaining lol

  6. Yes and No.

While its true, that fans do tend to pull for Corps to upset the applecart ( when its BD that usally has the biggest applecart, and the best apples in the village most years ), sometimes fans favorite shows can be Corps that are completely out of the running for a championship. '95 Madison Scouts come to mind, Carolina Crown 07, 2011 come immediately to mind, and we could probably list a dozen or more other examples too over the years.

Very true. I was at Finals in Pasadena in 07. Crown just blew me away. So did Bluecoats that year. Hell the top 7 that year was Boss.

  7. See what I did there?

Anyway I'll be blunt and I'm sure I'll enrage quite a few people.

I saw Phantom three times in California this season and am watching the live webcast tonight.

Geez. I am not impressed. Performance is OK, design is... Not. Performance isn't good enough to make up for design flaws (or, phlaws).

In my opinion, this trend has been occuring with PR for the last few years. What's the deal? Have they just become a middle of the pack 6-8 place corps?

I could see them as low as 10th.

Go ahead, chew me out. :-)

I saw Phantom live at Pasadena and Riverside. They aren't as bad as you are making them out to be. Will they contend this year? No. But as one of the biggest BD fan's around, PR has taught me to never ever EVER count them out. Cause when you do, that's when they come outta no where and take it to you. So if you want to count them out and leave them for dead, go ahead. As for me and some my fellow BD fans, i think it's safe to say we learned our lesson. 1996, 2006, 2008. Enough said.

  8. Bloo, crown and BAC this year imo.

Let's just keep it real. The crowd favorite is who ever has the best shot at beating BD that year. 2008 was PR and they did beat BD. 2009 DCP nation jumped ship from Rockford to Ft Mill cause Crown now had the best shot. 2010 we all loved the Cavies cause they had the best shot. 2011 was the Cadets. 12-13 was Crown. In 14 we jumped ship to Canton. Who ever has the best shot of beating BD that's who we love that year.
