LFG one last time Mandarins!
All gas, no brakes!
Don't worry about proving your doubters wrong, focus on proving your supporters right.
Good luck!!!

Just came from rehearsal. It was tough emotionally, but I got thru it. Mandarins crushed their final run through. Gonna go grab some dinner, and head to the stadium.

BD was first 98.750
Mandarins were 10th at 90.013

Thank you so much! It's been awesome. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would be drum corps parents. Yet here we are. It's been a fun ride.
We are heading over to his last rehearsal in a few hours. When the corps circles up around him and the other age outs to play Year of the Dragon for the final time, that's when it's going to hit me.
Today is going to be tough, but we are so proud of him. He came a long way these last four years.

Yeah that was him alright. HA. He's come so far from those "DID YOU SEE THAT KID IN GOLD WITH THE HUGE AFRO STICKING OUT FROM BEHIND HIS CONTRA?" days.
I hope someone got it on Flo lol.

I thought it was a great run, very proud of my hometown Mandarins.
They are definitely on a 7th place island... Top 6 Gatekeepers.
They will walk through that gate soon enough.
Well remember they did crack the top six in 2023.
Quite a few aren't ready to say top 7 and include them at the big boy table, which they clearly belong.

Should have been at ‘99 finals in Madison…#### near a riot with that crowd after that tie was announced. SCV carried the crowd that night and deservedly so.
Ok.

If the judges don't put Crown above BD tonight, there needs to be riots in the streets. Given their storied history & expectations, BD was a borderline disaster tonight.
Anyone rioting over a show performed by 17-21 year-olds in a summer youth activity.........
Seek help immediately.

Seemed like a stronger performance than yesterday.
The Age-Out Ceremony will involve a slideshow they show on the jumbotron, saying some inspirational words to them, and then introducing each corps as their age-outs enter the field from the stands where they were sitting/set up. And then they just give them all lots of time to just soak in the moment while roaming around the field among their fellow age-outs. It's a really fun moment for the members and a nice break from the intensity of their regular schedule.
Heard from my son. He said it was an incredible run tonight. He seemed very pleased.

What happened to BDs magic ability to clean better then any other corps so much that no other corps can clean like BD?
You probably had that comment sitting in the chamber for the past 25 years LMAO.

Is Mandarins show about getting a perm? Those looked like giant curlers on the field.

God Bless to the person who tries to perm my son's fro on the field. They better pack a lunch because he is going down swinging.

I say this every season- but it’s insane how far the Mandarins have come.
J.W. Koester.
It's amazing what happens when you put competent people who know how to lead in charge.

So I told my wife about this thread, so she sent a video of BACs show back home to Japan to her sister, niece, nephew, and a couple friends. She explained the show etc.
Everyone said Boom was freaking amazing. Zero issues at all.
And now her niece is asking for more DCI videos as she was blown away. Thanks to this thread, we just made a new DCI fan in Japan lol!

I was on Embassy duty for 2 years and then in MCAS Iwakuni for 3. Wife is from Hiroshima. Small world.
I did three tours in Japan.
1997-2000, USS Germantown (LSD-42), Sasebo Japan.
2002-2005, Naval Munitions Weapons Command, Yokosuka Japan.
2009-2012, Commander Fleet Activities, Sasebo Japan.

I’ll tell you one thing, Chief. Jim said that the Japanese treat older people with the utmost respect. Unlike this country.
That is 100% correct.
Customer Service in Japan is next level. Absolutely puts us to shame here in the states in comparison. You can walk into a McDonald's, they are breaking their neck to serve you.
There is a reason the Navy had to implement COT (Continuous Overseas Tour for Japan) which restricts people from doing multiple tours consecutively in Japan. People were getting stationed there, and not leaving because they loved it so much! Lol. The other branches have the same issue.

Honey that hasn't been the case in 25 years; since well before any current marchers were born. You can let go of any "supposed to be" by now!
It's like Dallas Cowboys fans saying they belong in the Super Bowl every year, when in reality the last time they sniffed a conference championship game, Microsoft was launching Windows 95..............in 1995 LMAO.

Mu wife is Japanese. Born and raised in Sasebo Japan, about 30 minutes north of Nagasaki. Our kids were born in Yokohama Japan.
She absolutely loves Boom. It's one of her favorite shows of the year.
