I suppose it would also be just as ironic if they lost or placed 2nd, 3rd or 4th by a tenth as well.
This year they will place 1st, 2nd and 7th simultaneously!

Those look incredible!
-
nah - here you go
So the rumors are true ... Cadets are taking out the Z-pull and replacing it with a rave ending!
-
I'm really worried the new neon footwear is going to make the drill IMPOSSIBLE to clean
Well, you know what they say … Cadets does everything that Madison does, only backwards and in high heels!

Who thinks BS have a new ending to add in yet? My guess would be the "side show" leaving town to reflect the beginning as they arrived into town?
That would be be yet another wink and nod to last year's show ... this years version of handing the keys over to the new owners. I like it!
-
Coats followed yesterday's outstanding performance with an AWESOME day of rehearsal. Put in a couple of very nice tweaks to the ending. This corps is very focused. Next week is going to be fun to watch.
So Bluecoats do have a couple more tricks up their sleeve! After seeing the new ending in Dublin, I thought it was already pretty masterful and they just needed to clean, but now ... I can't wait to see them in Massillon!

I attended my first show ever on Sunday.
Ah, no longer a virgin! Congrats!

ABSOLUTELY! The type of show I craved from them for a long time.
This is the show EVERYONE has craved for far too long!

OK I work with computer security but.... little scary that gender and age range can be pulled from a visit to a website......
And almost half the visitors are 45-54.... not quite DCIs target audience....
Somebody hears you. you know that. you know that ...

I just contacted DCI and asked- "if it is likely, or even possible, that 2015 Blu Rays will NEVER be available due to licensing issues. If so, does that mean that the Live stream could POTENTIALLY be the last chance to ever see these shows again?"
The reply I got was-
Best news I have heard today!

Despite the rumors, DCI is enjoying a rebirth this season that should be up from last year, and even may offset the loss from fan network subscriptions. I think this is outstanding, and will STFU many naysayers.
I thought Troopers were the neigh-sayers

My favorite moment is the opening tuba feature through the opening hit with the CG member in the orb with the quivering hand. Simply brilliant!!
-
Very cool moment, where if you haven't seen the show you are wondering how they did it.
I still love the ballad.
But I still think their third act doesn't have something it needs. The new ending is better than the old one, but is it enough? Even with all the changes and cleaning they still have not finished ahead of BD or Cadets head to head. You know both of those corps will continue to get bigger scores, probably topping out in the 95-96 range. Hard to see how they get to 96 without something really surprising being added.
The gap between BD and Bluecoats is 1.05 as of last night, the night before it was 1.50. The gap is narrowing. Anything can happen.

A ton of new breweries/distilleries have been opened since 2014.
Definitely worth a visit - less than a mile from the stadium with easy access using the bikeshare.

We always go to RAM for pre-finals food and drink!
And for your literary pleasure, the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library: http://www.vonnegutlibrary.org/
Hey! I am a member of the Vonnegut Library! I joined last year for a year membership, but on my card it says expires 8/9/2014, so I guess I actually bought a 1 day membership!

So, Tilt 2!
Or Tilted KInetic Noise!

This is my experience: I started the season going to my usual DCI live kick-off in the theaters, and then the Bowling Green show. Not too unusual, I always do something like this. But because of this year's product, I added the Hamilton, OH show. Then I waited for the shows to come back to Ohio and went to the Dublin show, which I always do (Shout-out to you, Garfield!) But I usually skip the Massillon show, since it is the Monday of finals week, and I go to prelims, semis and finals in Indy already. This year I am adding the Massillon show because this year, I just can't get enough. I know this is just anecdotal, but I think it may be true for more than just me.

Too funny.

I couldn't agree more. I earnestly pray that DCI will be able to work out the licensing issues. Especially this year when virtually all the world class corps have stepped up their game. In particular, I can't imagine having this year's top five shows recorded only in my brain.

I've been to this show many times and will echo these sentiments. Great setup, good volunteers, and one of the nicer shows to attend every year. Sadly I couldn't be there last night since I had to call bingo for Bluecoats here in North Canton. Duty calls sometimes, but I imagine Blooo has a great group of fans down there, and looking at that score they must have performed amazingly well.
There was a great group of Bluecoats fans atthe show ... an a lot of love was given to Willie too!

They are 5s,6s and maybe a 7 - definitely not more than that. No one throws higher than that outside (well maybe the odd soloist tries to!)
I will definitely take your word for it. Like I said, I live in a world of hyperbole. It just sure seemed like those sabers were in the stratosphere to me. Mia culpa, even though I have been in drum corps since the beginning of time, when it comes to guards, I am still pretty much a "Look at the pretty flag" sort of guy.

I don't think that is as much a contributor for most people as the fact that last year, the shows were very, very good, which led to good starter buzz. Then this year the shows are VERY VERY GREAT. Like amazingly great. Like really diverse choices and unbelievable levels of execution. They truly are a must-see. That has not always been the case in the past.
This is precisely what I thought as well.
-
One last random thought ...
With the quality of drum corps this season, especially at the top, please DCI, figure out the licensing issues. This season has to be relived on DVDs and BluRay. (I can't remember the last time that I loved every one of the top five. (True, I haven't seen SCV yet, but I have loved what they have done the past couple of years, so I have little doubt I will love them this year.)

Really enjoyed Blue Stars' show tonight in Dublin. They've come so far since Akron. Not completely sold on the (prerecorded?) voiceovers. The style is a bit too much like BD's "Yowza" narrator in 2005. And the fact that they're being used at all tells me that either the judges are really dumb, and needed pointers to notice, e.g., the contortionist or the juggler . . . or that Stars never staged those moments well enough to make them really stand out. B
Actually, as I mentioned in the Dublin thread, I like the “carnival barker” narration. I think it really adds to the production. And that flugelhorn soloist in the palm reading section is gold! She does another great job in the trumpet duet a little later on. I love the addition of the tight rope walker sideshow! Very clever, but I wonder if the effect would have been bigger if the “tight rope” was parallel to the front sideline instead of vertical? I like the costuming of the guard as they enter the carnival … the earth tone period costumes effectively evokes the idea of depression era commoners looking for a little entertainment to brighten their dreary day to day existence. It was nice to see the rifle toss over the carried guard member who takes the place of the couch from last year’s show. A very clever wink and a nod.

Except that they all are flesh and blood humans, and unwarranted criticism hurts. Even Scott Chandler has said that poor reviews and nasty remarks can affect him for days.
