Didn't security get beefed up at LOS in the off-season? I seem to recall a thread last fall discussing BOA participants having to go through intense screenings when entering the performance hallway. Even instruments and props were screened by event security. I assumed at the time this wasn't just for BOA but all events at LOS.

Very intriguing information. After analyzing about ten definitions of "deconstructionism" because I couldn't wrap my head around any of them...I think I sort of have a better idea of what they are going for this year. It sort of reminds me of the DaDa movement Blue Devils recreated a few years back. Of course, only time will tell once the final announcement is out. Based on this tidbit of information though I feel this could be their most philosophical show yet...even more than E=mc2.

From Crown's Facebook: "Join us as we unveil the 2017 Crown Show at Nation Ford HS on June 18! The gates will open at 6:00 PM with the event starting at 7:00 PM. The encore performance will follow with special guests from Nation Ford High School playing alongside Carolina Crown! Tickets will be $2 per person, or $5 per family and all proceeds will go to support the Nation Ford High School Band "March to Macys" Fundraiser!"

I have no need or interest in doing so. Like I said, I completely understand both sides of the coin and furthermore am thankful that such regulations are in place to protect creative works.

You do make some really good points here, John. I have been participating and following this activity for years. Overall, I must admit this has to be the most tight-lipped season ever going into tour premiere I can remember. Even before social media and the Internet word seemed to get around somehow. This is also the most I have ever seen of leaked videos, people messaging leaks, people requesting leaks. This is no coincidence, these two occurrences go hand-in-hand. Now... 1. I also don't blame people at all for this behavior and am guilty of wanting to do so myself. Like I said I've been involved with the activity for years, but just decided this week to actually get a DCP account instead of just reading (yayy stepping up in the world! ) and don't ever recall so much passing and sharing of audio/video on all threads. 2. I'm not just referring to Crown. From the top all the way down there has been little to no information even from corps that have historically announced as early as October-New Years. 3. Coming from someone who arranges battery score, I completely understand and sympathize with each corps concerns for privacy/licensing issues from the original composers. It really is a double-edged sword in my opinion. I'm all for building suspense or hype and waiting to release content until it's more polished, as well as not being forced to dump half your budget over a lawsuit. However, curiosity will take over fans and this stuff will start to happen more and more with the ease of social media. Side note...I'm surprised nobody's been caught yet flying drones over ST rehearsals to catch video....hmmmm. But on a serious note two weeks will be here before we know it, let's just enjoy the ride!!!

Plot twist...the fourth portion of the announcement won't be released until after finals night retreat. At which point, it will simply read "It was...well we don't really know either".

That is what I am thinking as well. They said the show announcement will be released in four phases, each week. We're in week two so hopefully in the next two weeks we'll have a full announcement. Every announcement has started with "It is..." so I guess it's safe to assume this might be all of part of the show title. As far as what the show concept actually is...I (and I think most people) have absolutely no clue at this point. It's all just words on a page to me.

It looks like Vic Firth is recording today at ST from videos on Crown Drums' Snapchat. We should hopefully see some percussion footage coming from Vic Firth within the next week. Also on Crown Drums' Snapchat, a preview of what seems to be the (or a) drum feature. If I saw correctly (darn disappearing 10 second videos), this is going to probably be one of the most talked about drumline features this season. Hint: Let's just say there's going to be a lot of footwork in this one...and I don't mean choreography . Time will tell, but the percussionist in me is VERY excited!
