On tradition night at the end of spring training, Pioneer members get a necklace with a green shamrock shaped dog tag. Engraved on one side is "Pioneer Corps" and the corps motto "Better Every Day". Engraved on the other side is their member number. They also get a colored washer for each year they march, but the colors usually wear off by the end of the season from the sweat. Members will sometimes put little section charms or momentos on their necklace too. I know someone who found a pop tab on the field at their favorite rehearsal site and put it on their necklace. Alumni will often ask members to field their old necklaces-sometimes for one performance, sometimes for the entire season. It's a cool way to keep old members with us, even if they can't physically march with us anymore.
