I've often wondered why DCI doesn't at least show the full open class winner show at Big Loud & Live. It's such a low effort thing to do and would be easy to slot them in during a break. Think about the people it would reach. Such a lost opportunity.
One of the highlights of my drum corps career was playing in front of 40,000 people in Madison in 1992 after winning Div. II (as well as in 1991, but Madison had a ton more attendance than Dallas did). That opportunity means so much to so many kids who grow up on those divisions. I hate that it’s been so slowly stripped away over the years.

I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but I have said this before and will say it again. These corps deserve a larger stage. So many people out there are missing great drum corps because they only keep their eyes on world class.

Huh. That was Jubal's status when they came too. I believe that Les Stentors was classed as International last time I saw their show too.
Go figure. That group was fantastic. I was working souvies that year and their staff and crews were an absolute delight. Still have the tshirt they gave me. ❤️

Gotta wonder if these guys are gonna pop the stadium lights. It looks dark out there.

Anybody know why Stampede gets to go last? Seems strange if they're competing to have them go last in a seeded event when there are no scores to seed them.
Also, just announced, no INT!
Not sure but they also did the same thing with Jubal when they attended prelims/finals.

50-50 split? I'm meditating on it hard right now. And for a clear spot in the weather right now for Southwind also...
Hefty donations to all the open class corps if I win. They more than deserve it.

They must have listened to me. They put a caption on PC drums in the lot.
Can you wish for me to win the megamillions next? Much appreciated!

I didn't know that. Is that only in the case of a delay like this, or can they change on a whim?
They upload tapes immediately to CompSuite so I doubt there’s any score changing involved at that point.

Ugggggh. Always hate to see a corps have to hang after they’ve completed warmup but before they get to play. It’s just never ideal. (Especially when you’re a homer for that group.)

Yeah, I thought I remembered Stars being a little bigger. Still did a nice job, though.
Everybody’s a little smaller this year, I’d wager.
ETA: Also very excited to see The Battalion finally at the big show. They’ve been building their program the right way, and they’ve more than earned their trip to prelims/finals.

Southwind is marching 78 this season. Down a bit from previous seasons, but they're carrying a good balance and a great sound with them.

DCI need to re ##### the time between the shows in my opinion. It is just to much time.
Have you seen the bathroom lines? Judges gotta pee. 🤣🤣

Never mind Open Class, Spartans has one of my favorite shows of the entire season across the board. Open Class was simply amazing this year.
(Yeah, I'm a homer. Sue me. Except don't really. But I was honestly impressed.)

No, there's a senior INCREASE for that.

Raiders, with the best use of hamster wheels since Madison.
I kept making Wonder Wheel references that season. 🤣

Heat Wave started things off. If this is the lowest ranked corps, we are in for a great day!

Spoiler alert: you are. Open Class has some great stuff this season. (Obviously, I have a homer bias, but it's legit.)

HA! DCI finally fixed the spelling of Psychologists in their ad for health professionals.
And yet I can guarantee you they'll use our old logo from three years ago and a performer from two seasons ago in our intro. We've tried every year now to get it fixed. 🤣

Anyone know how copyright laws work for FloMarching for European groups? They're not governed by the same laws, correct?
Or do they have to follow them because they're performing in the U.S.?
-
Trying to figure out how I can watch FloMarching from my phone at work with no headphones without betraying that I'm in a cult who takes the marching arts waaaaaaay too seriously and needs to get my finals week fix.
Any suggestions?

I wonder if that contributed to this year's move to Marion, which is much closer to Indianapolis.
I'm sure it did have some impact. Additionally, although we personally had a phenomenal experience with housing last season, we heard some of the other directors say their housing sites had become pretty uncooperative on basic corps needs - simple things like showers and fields (I know at least one corps had to shower at the stadium). It was, just like everywhere else, sadly, becoming a rarity to find schools who could adequately house the corps. I'm not sure if that's just the upward trend of losing housing or the growth in Open Class. Probably a little of both.
