  1. My corps director got so ###### off at the results of our inspection that he pulled us out of the competition and had the buses take us to another show later that day...It apparently paid more than the first ...The rumor was that the circuit we were a part of thought we had gotten too big for our britches so the only way they could screw us was to do it at inspection(Yankee circuit 1966)...We hadn't lost there in two years at the time and effectively gave away our title...lol..C'est la vie..peace

This is such an unfortunate situation.  Things in drum corps were just so much different back in the day.  I was 14, 15, and 16 when I marched Sac.  My Birthday was in July.  I had a sexual relationship with a person who was 20 when I was 15.  It was a secret thing that happened a few times.  It did not last past the summer.  I wanted this relationship, and I do not feel I was groomed.  I have had a few conversations with this person.  They were very worried that I had lasting damage or felt some kind of way.  I only felt like it was a wonderful time that I do not regret.  I do not think the same thing would happen now.  There are not a lot of 14- and 15-year-olds marching in the top 12.  Please also know that I drank alcohol and smoked pot during the same period.  I just do not think these things are tolerated now.  I would never allow my child to march in a corps before the age of 16.  My daughter is 30 though, and she had no interest in drum corps.  My point is what would it help if I felt differently, and I still had a corps to sue?  I could go after the person who I had the relationship with, but I know for a fact this only happened with me, and I wanted it to happen.  They have been married now for over 36 years.  I will never understand how money can make things better in these cases.  It is just a shame the Cadets are now defunct.  I hope this brings the victim in this case some kind of peace.  I just don't quite understand how that works.

For the first time on this forum, I don'i know how to respond...Peace

  3. My only interaction with GH, happened in 2000 at Tower Records, Lincoln Center...I told a friend that I recognized GH and that I was going to say hello and how much I loved the Cadets...Approaching him respectfully, I excused myself and proceeded to tell him that I was a Cadet fan and supporter and that I hoped for a successful season...His response freaked me out!..There was no response! He just kept walking through the soundtracks dept..while looking through me not at me and said nothing..That's all I needed to know about Mr. H...I remained a Cadet fan but reserved a big F you for their director,,Good riddance...peace

  4. My favorite Cadet shows include 1982 through 2015..2018,2022 and 2023...I know that's a huge chunk of time, but I found at least something rewarding during those years that left me satisfied..I didn't always care about placement but as many have said, 1989 and 2015 were close to being winning shows..Peace

  5. Clearly, for all the good drum corps has brought to many on here, there is this disturbing undertow of sickness and sleeze that so many are now revealing having been victims themselves...What that says about the current environment of drum corps, I have no idea...My marching days are long gone...But as there's nothing new under the sun, the lewd behaviors I witnessed in the sixties are still apparently a great concern today..Hopefully these concerns can be put to rest ASAP..Peace

  6. The Cadets(RIP) will ultimately be the organization associated with what goes wrong when sexual abuse/perversion etc. goes unreported and normalized..I can only imagine how lucky some feel today that they've escaped detection in other corps where this behavior was also existent..God bless the child..PEACE

  7. TCM played GODSPELL today and I realized how much I enjoyed the production as well as the music .I know JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has been used  in DCI, most notably by Madison Scouts..Has anyone done a production of GODSPELL?..I think GODSPELL has played second fiddle to JCSS for a long time...I think I now prefer it vs. JCSS ..What say ye DCP folk?

  8. Realistically, I don't expect prices for drum corps to go down...Nor do I begrudge the promoters their fair share and the fans who support them...What I'd like to see is the corps getting serious money from an online service like FLO if the viewership numbers reflect a significant increase in DCI interest such that their profits from the broadcasts warrant a larger percentage for drum corps..I don't know if drum corps receives any money from FLO..I just assume that to be the case..That's all..PEACE

oh i've been there. and i partke in a lot of Flo since my area gets so few shows anymore.

but man...live...yeah. i'd pay it, and beats the hell out of suffering through penn State beat down UMass in the rain

    Nothing beats LIVE!! Yay!

  10. MarimbaMania has in my opinion,  given a sincere and palpable observation based on the reality of discretionary money and it's effect on those who simply can no longer find it cost effective to attend live shows. These are probably the same people who can no longer  afford live sporting events, live music concerts or live anything short of your high School's annual concert...That he's been reminded that you're supporting drum corps and it's young folk( Who fork out between 4 to 5 thousand dollars for this privilege) seems to  border on a test of drum corps loyalty, when in fact, his position is probably shared by more than a few..If supporting mean going to FLO because you can't afford 800 dollars for finals or to drive two hours to see a show with 4 corps at 50 bucks a shot then at least appreciate the effort ..Those with the funds to go to live shows, God bless you..But those who can't, are no  less enthusiastic to see this art form succeed and no less loyal than any other fan...imo...Peace

  11. I still believe and I know i'm not alone, that the Bloo's first ending in 2019 was classy, complete and made more sense than the bombastic HEY JUDE ending that changed to compete with BD's surge as the season wore on..in this case, sometimes less is better..imo....peace

  12. I'm just happy that the poster introduced me to an artist that BLEW ME AWAY..I am obviously late to the game as regards Mr. Collier but his arrangements, along with the TAKE SIX vocals on these two songs, soulfully moved me emotionally...If a corps could reproduce his work that would be fantastic..But if that never happens, I'd just like to thank the poster for a few minutes of bliss..peace
